This is a great app that I have been using through the rapid beta. If you were too late to get a beta slot, you can now get it from the App Store. Be sure to give it a great review if you like it!
Memmy has been my go-to client for the last few weeks. It feels the most like Apollo, which is what I was going for when searching for a mobile client. There was some buzz a while ago about the Lemon app, but that developer seems to have just vanished with no word on any progress. I'm not locking myself into any app for now, I still want to see who can deliver the best quality this early on, but Memmy has been winning so far.
Memmy is my go-to as well. I’m gonna be waiting a few months and then trying out other clients to see how they’ve matured, and seeing if there’s any others I like more than Memmy.
As for the Lemon app, I may be misremembering things but I’m quite certain that they merged with another Lemmy client called Limbo and formed Liftoff for Lemmy.
Pretty cool. It’s great to see so many clients on the market.
One minor feature I wish every iOS client had is better password manager integration. Normally on login forms, the app can provide a hint to the OS of what domain you’re logging in to; then when you click the password box, the password manager can suggest to autocomplete that domain’s password. Currently every time I set up a new app, I have to type programming.dev twice. Once in the “which lemmy instance are you connecting to” box and once in LastPass’s search bar. It’s. A minor inconvenience, but I wonder if clients could pass along the lemmy URL to the password manager after I’ve typed it the first time.
I don’t think they can, as is. The app itself has the url imbedded into it. The only way they could get it to work is by authenticating from a web page that indicates where it is.
Bitwarden for iOS is not detecting the username or password fields as credential fields. I believe the developer would need to implement Passsword AutoFill
Didn’t auto detect the domain / app obviously but had no issue with filling fields with keeper after searching. Even put the 2FA code into the paste buffer for me.
I’ve been using the beta version for a couple of weeks and it’s pretty solid. There are some features I miss from Apollo when I was on Reddit, but I’m hopeful they are coming.
Its still early development and updates seem to get put out pretty quick, so I imagine a lot more quality of life stuff will get added now that it’s actually on the appstore
I am loving it! It brought me here and I am so happy to have a new place to hang out. Definitely giving it a 5 star rating! It feels a lot like Apollo which I love
Amazing work team! This will definitely help me and I would think a lot of users who are migrating across from Reddit. One minor thing; I can’t seem to get my profile tab to load at the moment but I figure there’s still a few bugs that need ironing out!
This is awesome! I’m so glad this came out so quickly, I didn’t expect it so soon. Big thanks to the dev team, all of us refugees really appreciate you and your hard work!! It’s so nice to have a place to call home now :)
This app is just great. I’ve been a user basically from day one, and I’ve seen it improve exponentially, for real.
At this point, I’m just tuning on the communities to get the content I want, but experience-wise I don’t miss Apollo, which is saying a lot about the state of Memmy.
Test Fight has more recent updates but by using the App Store version you can support Memmy by increasing it's placement on charts and by leaving a review.
Got it installed, followed a couple communities. Biggest wish for me is that it showed how many subscribers or whatever that a community has. It’s annoying finding the biggest/most active ones.
No app or site is feature complete right now. I recommend also using wefwef.app and using the site. You can install the site the same way you install wefwef. On your phone, go to landscape with the website to expose all the features and locate ranked communities that way.
It's pretty good, I am having a bit of a tough time adding a body to a post, I wish making a text post was as simple as writing a comment!
Feels pretty zippy, nice to have everything in one place.
Is there a place in the app to submit feedback?
Edit: ah it looks like the "back" button is how you save the body of the post, I kept pulling the page down to dismiss the popover and it would erase my body, maybe we change the title from "back" to "save"?
@Qiz@richie510 i still miss the simplicity of opening Reddit and switching between subscribed and All and knowing i was seeing the top posts. Lemmy is still a bit confusing with the home/federated/local pages and all the instances. But it's getting there
Will it ever be possible to log into a lemmy app with a mastodon account? I’d rather not have to create a new account. Why can’t the app handle the ui so it looks like Lemmy even from a mastodon account?
I have beta access also. I was wondering which is better to use? I mean, I also want to help the dev via beta reports, but is the beta version ok for primary usage?
I’m not able to upvote comments through the app, but it works fine with wefwef- anyone else having the same issue? Can still up upvote posts, just not the replies. iOS 16
