Good. This was just another instance of overreaching. The government shouldn't be in the business of making Healthcare decisions or anything not safety related to school sports. Now get back to work.
This morning my wife showed me a press conference he gave about his decision to veto; in it, he spoke of parents reaching out to him that their kids would have killed themselves had they not received this care, and from trans adults that said as much about themselves. He said that gender-affirming care is life-saving care, and that signing the bill would have said that the government of Ohio would claim to know better about these children’s medical care than “the two people who love them the most, their parents”.
I don’t like DeWine, but I am pleasantly surprised and impressed that he did this. If only he’d be this open-minded about reproductive rights.
