If that wasn’t abstract enough … there was Ren & Stimpy.
At least they gave us Rocko to let us know what adulting would be like before we got there.
Blew my mind when I learned Rocko was a sex phone line operator.
I remember the voice... it was like an Australian John Oliver:

Laundry day is indeed a very dangerous day.
But Ren & Stimpy was never meant for kids afaik.
It was on Nickelodeon before they had like 7 different channels tailored to each demographic.
And the creator is a creepy groomer (allegedly)
Every episode of that show was like a fucking fever dream.
