I was gonna say, if it was going to be this simple there's no way the CFPB would have survived Trump's first term.
What can congress even do to stop him? Let's say they even impeached and convicted him, who would have the courage and power to remove him from office at this point? It's a pretty fucked up situation.
They can do a lot. Do you remember the last twenty years under Democrat presidents? Republicans obstructed tons of things successfully, even when they were in the minority.
It's a question of planning and willpower. Of course there are no perfect solutions, so don't ask for those.

The Democrat presidents were a lot more respectful of Congress and the house and didn't actively subvert them with unjustified executive orders.
It takes an act of Congress to eliminate it, but apparently a rogue President can make them sit on their hands and be useless.
lol welp. We’re seeing exactly how much that “rule” is worth right now. And unfortunately, it’s demonstrably worth less than the paper it’s written on.
This is a constitutional crisis, and a coup as well; it’s just that neither Congress or the SC is going to lift a fucking finger to do anything about it. Which is par for the course, if I’m honest.
