Where on earth do they get the 'AYD' from?
Seems like spifk, sporf, or knorkoon might be more sensible.
I'm unsure if the original inventor is still alive for you to ask that question, but let us know the answer if you do get it.
I would guess because it sounds kind of like blade just spelled differently
