I'd like to send out a special "Fuck you" to the asshole that called this tip in, whether it turns out to be the real shooter or not. I can't imagine being such a piece of trash to go do that.
It's a pretty normal thing to do. If you're just living your life like you're supposed to, doing your job like your supposed to and listening to the news like you're supposed to. Than you don't know any better than to turn in a wanted criminal when you see him, because you trust the state and the police to be good and do the right thing. You can't blame them for being perfectly conditioned by the multi billion dollar machine of the state, because it's not an easy thing to escape.
Maybe if we created a culture of shaming bootlickers, more people would understand that bootlicking is wrong because it would be easier to be exposed to that information.
Who said anything about hurting them? They did a shitty thing, I'll call them out for being shitty. It does them no harm, and if they have half a brain, might even lead to some reflection on their actions.
Get lost with your misplaced concern for a straw man.
And where exactly did I call for that? I said "Fuck you" to them, and made some disparaging, yet accurate, comments regarding their character. I didn't call for any sort of action against them. Where on earth are you getting that I'm asking someone to harm them in any way by cursing them out on the internet?
Sub link says it was an elderly employee. So that could mean either they were in dire straits with their own cost of living looking for $50k, they were working for a social outlet during retirement, or they hold a strong belief in a US that [didn't actually] existed for white people 25+ years ago... The first is more empathetic of course but i can't help but feel this is yet another "olds screwing the youngs" situation.
I always wondered if you end up getting the reward. I bet there is some stupid rule that voids it.
"Oooh, you called, but you didn't call it in at 3:54 on a Tuesday and request to speak to Detective Dingleberry while playing Cranberries in the background"
I don't live in the States so I thought $50k is a lot. But it seems to corroborate about what I read that vaguely stating "I am earning six figures" will not impress anyone anymore. This does show the growing inequality and worsening inflation in the US.
