Housing advocates call for moratorium on winter decampments in Vancouver - BC | Globalnews.ca
  • As someone who lives near the Allan Gardens encampment in Toronto, if you walk past it late at night you see all these flickers of light through the tent fabric - like little fireflies. It's meth pipes. They are lighting up meth pipes.

As proof, here is a statement from the very frustrated hard-left aligned councillor in my ward about the homeless encampment. Yes many people take the help, but yes many people choose to be homeless.

  • Do the rules of your home instance apply when posting to a different instance?
  • So I suppose then, in the Fediverse, it's up to the admin of your instance how to enforce any rules? I sort of like that. A free market of admin policies... too loose and your whole instance gets banned, too strict and your users go elsewhere.

  • (How) Does Lemmy prevent brigading and other vote manipulation?
  • Brigaded up-votes are almost as harmful as brigaded down=votes. Down-votes also keep out the trolls until a critical mass of trolls has been reached. Hopefully there are more advanced methods in the future.

  • Redditors, how do you like Lemmy?
  • The relative difficulty to sign up will be a deterrent to most people. Every other social network has you up in seconds. This needs to be streamlined.

I'm missing some o the features, hoping they will come in time.

Considering the 22 billion in "excess" funds they've accumulated according to the Financial Accountability Office, it seems like they are intentionally sabotaging the public health care system. Conservatives seem to love supply and demand when it suits them, but also underfund nurses when we need more nurses. How's that make sense?
