I just got a BOOX Tab Ultra C Pro. I believe it has Android 12. Do I have to use the Google Play store to get apps?
  • No, there are other ways to get apps.

    • Aurora store: Google play store with no need for a google account.
    • F-droid: A way to install FOSS apps independant of Google.
    • Neostore: better looking f-droid

All of these can be downloaded in the browser, and then installed from the file manager.

  • Leak: Intel’s Battlemage desktop GPUs are just days away
  • I got it specifically for Linux usage. I had a 2060 before that, but got fed up with NVidia's drivers and replaced it with the ARC. I only need Vulkan and OpenGL, so the performance pitfalls on Windows don't really apply to my usage. It works perfectly on Linux, but I ran into issues literally just trying to update the drivers on Windows.

  • how do you guys use privacy focused messaging alternatives like Signal or Matrix?
  • Exactly this. I use Signal for people close to me and SMS or Email for those who don't use signal, who I don't have coversations with often anyways. Dispite it's many, many flaws, I will use SMS before I use a Meta messenger.

  • There doesn't appear to be a limit to the maximum size the KDE cursor can get when you shake it.
  • Having a size cap does not make much sense since the increased pointer size is triggered intentionally, meaning if someone keeps shaking the pointer, they must want it bigger (whether for amusement or because they're hella blind).

  • Essential gear for night riding?
  • The point of blinking bike lights is to be noticed by drivers. Once noticed, divers are able to track you using their headlights and your reflectors.

Using blinking lights also means I can use a bright light while not running out of battery in the middle of my trip.
