LimeWire.exe
  • Good times

  • What do you self-host?
  • They server my domains and 100 other domains, one of the also act as a slave/secondary DNS server for others who wish to use it.

  • What do you self-host?
  • I am actually decomissioning the serverrack I have with my friends just because lack of time.

Used to run a lot of small things for the community, but like you - time and resources was lacking.

  • Real domain with dynamic IP
  • It is a giant MITM proxy, and whoever who has access to their logs have the potential to gain a lot of control

  • Real domain with dynamic IP
  • Afraid.org is great :) I do recommend

  • Real domain with dynamic IP
  • Since your name is Helig, I assume you are from the Nordics. Loopia has support for dynamic DNS.

  • Real domain with dynamic IP
  • All domains works with Dynamic IPs - it all depends on what DNS-provider you use :) Provider like Cloudflare ( I do not recommend Cloudflare) and afraid.org both offer dynamic DNS.

  • Do you believe Lemmy/Mastodon can become mainstream and fully replace their centralized counterparts?
  • There is always the censorship factor - it all depends on the team managing the instance you are on. Hopefully they manage it well - like most admins do.

  • Looking for recommendations for a mini pc server to start self hosting
  • Intel NUC is probably the best choice - silent, possible to have two SSDs, pretty low powered.

Personally, I did settle with 13 Dell optiplexes 9020 SFF

  • What do you self-host?
  • Thanks! I'll check it out :) Noticed that vikunja has a fedi-account @[email protected]

  • Poddrekomendationer
  • Alla dessa politiska poddar klarar jag personligen mig utan - så slipper man bli arg.

  • Lemmy faces the same expectations problems as every free/libre software
  • Well thats true for all software - being free/libre or not. It just takes time to get used to it.

For example, when I get a new phone - I spend the next months complaining over how much better the previous one was, until I dont.

  • What do you self-host?
  • Indeed it is! I remember a big change in resource-use between 1.18 and 1.22. And it is even less now. My server has joined many big rooms and it is doing great on 1 core and 1gb ram (even thou I have allocated more to it).

  • What do you self-host?
  • How does Vikunja work btw?

  • What do you self-host?
  • Had to format my post, since the mobile client I posted it with did not apply the formatting that I did :)

I am currently running a minecraft<>matrix bridge and a telegram-bridge. I used to host those bridges for public use (3k+ users), but that was hard since it used up so much hardware. Now it is only for family and friends, and that is working so much better :)

  • Do any of you bother writing abuse emails?
  • I did try to automate abuse emails via fail2ban, but that ended up getting my entire domain removed because it generated so many emails

  • Self-Hosting @compuverse.uk Wiox @compuverse.uk

    What do you self-host?

    I'll start:

    • Kubernetes
    • Nextcloud
    • Matrix-synapse
    • Minecraft
    • Authoritive DNS servers (powerDNS)
    • Mail-servers (postfix, and Haraka)
    • Peertube
    • Writefreely
    • GoToSocial (a small footprint fediverse server)
    • CalcKey (fediverse software)
    • My own small websites
    • Some small bots
    • Kubernetes
    • VPN

    The Hardware I use:

    • A bunch of Dell Optiplexes, Proliant Microserver G8, Synology NAS, mikrotik switches.
    • And a rack with a 100TB ceph cluster with some friends with a total of 700 cores and 4tTB RAM
    11
Collaborate on Fedi-hosting - looking for others to team up with
  • Oof, I recenty gave away a couple of servers,

  • Anyone else running Lemmy with Kubernetes?
  • I tested your helm chart and it just worked :)

Hey! Finally found an instance to settle

Admin/owner over a medium sized mastodon instance, long time fediverse user. Living in Sweden and have been a Linux user since before I was able to get a mustache.

Compuverse came to my attention because my brother showed it to me, the domain name was the main reason I like it. :)
