Episode discussion: S02E03 "Psy vs. Psy" [SPOILERS]
  • What really caught you off guard about this episode? By who did it?

I really liked it too anyway. I loved the whole FBI v. Lassiter game, and how Jules basicly got sidetracked the whole episode by FBI guy, that eventually got nowhere, while Shawn actually did get with the other Psych before discovering something else about her.

And more so the bit between Shawn and Henry in the store. Just him one upping Henry, who could really care less. And how he forces Gus to agree that Shawn owes him one. Really great.

  • Good point! It was not a given, but right now it seems like Reddit's choices (and related events at Twitter/Meta) have been driving new platforms to emerge. I'm still incredibly suprised by the adoption of Lemmy and Kbin and especially the quaility and diversity of available apps for the platforms. It's just really cool to see what people can do when they care about communitites of people coming together.

  • Threads isn’t for news and politics, says Instagram’s boss
  • Yeah! A great way instantly destroy the value of it for a bunch of Twitter subcultures like Politicians, Journalists, Media outlets in general.

Like, what's the point of this app and the launch window if you're instantly going to turn off lots of prominent users?

Sidenote: I would not trust Meta at all regarding ads and politics, we've seen in the last five years on why not.

  • It should not be about making as much money as possible, it should be about building a great product. Sure, you have to pay the bills, but sadly the way capatalism influences business makes that it can't exist and do fine, no it has to be amazing and be constantly growing.

What is the point? Like, an app such as Twitter imo should operate more like a public good, as a library does. Side effect would also be that billionaires will be too bored to care at all, so that's great.

  • Stil frustrates me. Being fair about why the business side needs it and then giving a time frame to devs to integrate with premium calls would have been the best option.

There would have been some revolts because of it, but nothing like the last few weeks imo

  • You know that's right.
