Proton services discussion
  • F-droid doesn‘t accept the Proton Mail client due to integrated google notification framework. The APK however is available on protonapps.com.

Proton is currently rewritting the Android application completely.

  • What is the most impressive music video you've ever seen?
  • I don't think anyone has appreciated what Coldplay did with their MV for The Scientist. In which Chris Martin really had to learn to sing the song backwards for the MV.

Here's what Director Jamie Thraves said on his interview with MTV way back on 2003

"I had this idea that I wanted to do a story that's tragic but starts off happy and ends happy, and the video is about rewinding to that happy ending,"

Thraves needed to find a new way to tell a narrative story that moved forward even as the action moved backward.

"The original idea was a straight narrative without the lead singer in the video," said Thraves. "But Chris wanted to be in the video and he was really excited to learn how to sing the song backward."

"He got a tape of the song recorded backward and he listened to it over and over. He's a very passionate guy, so he got really into it. What we learned later on is about the problems with phonetics, because you have to be very careful with the lip movement so that when you end on a sound your mouth is formed in the right way."

I think this would be always the most impressive music video in my book, ALWAYS. The dedication Chris Martin put man, I cant even think how he learned all of that.

  • How many people actually dropped Reddit for Lemmy?
  • Instead of using Reddit's site, I opted to use Libdirect which redirects you to privacy respecting front-ends instead of Reddit's website. It's kinda handy once you figure out some instances, the downside is that some instances are down and you need to take the time pinging those instances if they are working.

Here's the current use-case for me: I'll type reddit.com/r/privacy on my browser but then the extension will find the working instance you set and will completely redirect you to https://l.opnxng.com/r/privacy.

The only problem for this one is that you can't really comment to those questionable takes on r/unpopularopinion lol

  • Writers Guild Tells Members That Studios May Not Be Serious About Restarting Talks to Make a Deal
  • I even didn't thought of it! Even I'm a big fan of using AI as a tool. As what you've said, AI would really help a lot of these writers, but no to the extent AI would replace each one of them.

I'm also one of the skeptics when AI rose to mainstream, but I swalloed my ego and gave it a try a damn it really helps you a lot!

It will boil down to AI won't replace you, but a person using one will. I've never considered AI as an entity, but as a tool that I can harness and make use of. Incredibly amazing

  • “AI” Hurts Consumers and Workers -- and Isn’t Intelligent
  • Yeah, I guess some people must learn to swallow their ego and give it a try. I consider AI as a tool, not an entity who has a will of their own!

It's always adapt or just stop even working all together.

  • rclone adds support for Proton Drive
  • Yep, I was referring to Linux users not finding love in general. I hope Proton would work on Cryptomator soon. I mainly use Linux for data archiving and storage, mainly because I work in the design field.

  • What should I do when I'm motivated to do things for others but never for myself even though my life is a mess because of it?
  • I'm sorry to say this but, you must always put yourself first. You are responsible for everything that is happening to you. You have so much time for others but can't have time for yourself?

Do the things that make you happy, revisit some old hobbies, try working out, going outside for a run and gardening! Immersing yourself with nature really helps inside out.
