Player Development with Darko Rajakovic - Raptors Show w/Will Lou
  • I listened to this Q&A earlier today -- it's a great listen. I know Will was excited about a lot of the answers to his basketball questions (i.e. "how do you approach player development", "can you improve shooting", "how do you implement a 0.5 offense without good shooters"), but I was personally most happy about he answered difficult questions. At one point Will asks "have you spoken to Masai and Bobby in terms of the future of this team player-wise?" (basically asking if the Raptors are going to rebuild), and his answer was fantastic -- "I have spoken to Masai and Bobby about this, and we're working together on a direction together. I can't say more however, because the details need to remain in-house".

Literally all the coach needs to say. Remains honest, but also professional when there is something he can't divulge. Love it

  • Seems the NBA community on lemmy.world is gaining much more traction than here.
  • I would have joined here, but the operator of the lemmy.world instance seemed to be better equipped to handle the uptick in traffic. I don't mind moving here, but definitely come join us if that makes more sense (larger community and active mod over there)

  • Rico Hines is joining the 76ers as an assistant on Nick Nurse's coaching staff, sources tell ESPN.

Hines had been a part of Nurse's staff with the Raptors. Hines is a former player development coach who has worked his way to a front-of-the-bench assistant.

  • Teams with cap space that can sign him are the Rockets and Magic. The rumours of him going to the Sixers require more cap maneuvering (i.e. a S+T). I don't know how much he actually cares about winning, rather he wants his bag (and I say this as a Raptors fan).

Maybe the best situation for him is Orlando. They could be a play-in team as soon as next year, and they have lots of cheap talent on the roster so they can pay FVV the money he wants.
