What did people do before smartphones to pass the time when you were bored?
  • This reminds me of the time I checked out all the Dune books from the library, they were all hardbacks and the stack was nearly 2 feet high. The librarian was like, "You're not going to read all that before they're due" She was right but she let me check them all out anyway.

  • Whenever I'm trying to get people to do something and they are ambivalent I always use the line "I thought I was teamed up with superheroes but I'm stuck here with Lazy Boy and the Recliner!" No one gets it.

  • It's the qualified immunity part that's tripping you up. Any of those medical professionals you named require higher education and licensing, and malpractice insurance for the highest levels. The licensing boards will revoke your ability to ever work in your profession again if you fuck up, and you will be personally liable in addition to the institution you work for. Cops kill people and get a paid vacation. Then you can't sue them because of qualified immunity. If for some reason the cop loses his job he just goes to the next city over and starts fresh.

  • Dr. Oz is the living embodiment of the Appeal to Authority logical fallacy. He is a Cardiothoracic surgeon, and by all accounts a good one. However that doesn't qualify him to be an expert in any other field, including politics.

    Partitioning mixed media

I wanted to get an opinion on how to partition various disks. My Win 10 machine is going to Linux Mint with Win 10 ending support. I currently have three disks: SATA SSD which is the C: drive, a traditional HDD for bulk storage (D:), and a M.2 SSD for games (F:). I was looking for an opinion on how to partition the M.2 SSD. It all depends on where you install games. Should the M.2 drive be /home or something else like /opt?
