  • They are likely to bust in a crash, period. But without any crashes, yes, they degrade over years of sunlight and exposure to the elements, and that is something that you should always calculate in your risk assessment of the bike that you ride.

  • It's very clear from her clothing that is is a very normal day for her, and that she is very used to having to travel in kimono in the rain, but she cares very much to be proper when doing so. I don't know why she was there that day, but I can make some educated guesses based on the clothing she is wearing that would be very different than a person who hasn't spent so long in Japan.

There's a subtle difference in the clothing and the manner of wear and the self consciousness of a person who is dressed up for a special event and a person who dresses up regularly for reasons. I think that depending on your level of experience with these people, this photo can look very different to you.

  • It's something that I think a lot about. Before the pandemic there were times when I was shooting with a 180° fisheye, so I was like RIGHT on top of my subjects, but I would often shoot with a 35 or 50. Since the pandemic started, I haven't shot street with anything shorter than 85. I feel like COVID really changed the math on risk assessments, and that, in combination with face detection and the general deanonymization of street photography, really changes the whole genre going forward, in terms of technique and law.
