Apple to Limit iPhone 15 USB-C Cables to USB 2.0 Speeds: Report
  • Proprietary card audio port? What are you talking about? Apple doesn't care about wired audio and neither does the average consumer.

I've been using Bluetooth headphones for many years and imo it was the right call to push the industry in this direction. Bluetooth headphones don't die as quickly as you think. My first gen QC35 lasted close to 5 years when I replaced them and the battery was still good. They were replaced because they started making a weird noise randomly and I didn't take the best care of them so probably some wire in them became loose or something.

People don't like change but if you still want to use wired headphones you can. Use a USB-C/lightning adapter to headphone jack.

Batteries can last a long time. We have a Tesla in the driveway that I expect the battery to last 10+ years at least.

  • What % of mobile users plug their phones into a computer to move files on/off them? I'm not even an iPhone user (I have a Pixel 6 Pro) and it's probably been 5+ years since I last moved files over USB on my phone.

  • 'Eco-friendly' paper and bamboo straws contain PFAS chemicals, study finds
  • How do you get pearls that are at the bottom of the cup? You drink the tea first and then use a spoon for pearls? Bubble tea requires a straw to properly enjoy. Otherwise you can't get a mixture of both tea and pearls.

  • Yea, their mass market cars are known to be better built than the S and X. Partially because a large part of their design is still based on the original S and X which first came out in 2012.

Yea that's BS about the official policy being for QC to be skipped. The showrooms/service centers would have to fix the car if the customer isn't happy with it. So obviously it's not skipped and Teslas are built much better today than they were 5 years ago. We have a 2023 Model Y and it's well built with all minor issues being resolved quickly. There's no major waitlist. I'm in Canada and there are Teslas in inventory.

  • No offense but I know nothing about welds and have never looked at welds to judge quality. I also specifically said Model 3s and Model Ys which are their mass market cars. We have a Model Y and any small minor issues we had with it were fixed in the first/only service appointment without question. Minor stuff, no panel gap issues, and it felt well built.

  • A cupholder under the armrest isn't a cupholder and this image alone shows how ridiculous/dumb of a design this is: https://www.volvocars.com/images/support/img5c7d9f20d8d926b0c0a8015245a6464c_1_--_--_VOICEpnghigh.png

Half the center area is taken with the gear selector for no good reason. Mercedes perfected the shifter when it introduced this: https://images.carsaver.com/evox/stills_white_0640/MY2020/14351/14351_st0640_087.jpg Tesla then copied it (first gen Model S and Model X were actually the Mercedes parts/Tesla bought the parts from Mercedes).

Why does Polestar/Volvo keep taking up half the center area for something completely unnecessary and more annoying to use. I know not everyone has used the Mercedes/Tesla shifter but it's literally the most intuitive way to shift into drive/reverse/park and allows for storage/more than 1 cup holder for the front seats.

I have driven it and it's a decent car but it is cramped compared to a Model 3. I'm not saying bigger drivers won't fit, it's just there's not much room and for the same money you can get a Model 3 which feels a lot bigger and the seats felt a lot more comfortable in the Model 3. Some other dumb design is they take away a bit of the front sunroof so that it can reflect its logo on it. Why? So dumb. When I first sat in the car I asked if that's where you store your glasses and that's when they told me about the dumb reflection. The cluster screen is nice but the rest of the tech kinda sucks (compared to Tesla's tech)

  • What? The climate controls are always visible.. how hard is it to tap or slide your finger on them.

Since it was a rental someone before you probably turned off auto brightness controls.

  • Most decent to higher end desktops have at least 2.5 Gbps. Even a laptop/desktop that doesn't can get a 2.5 Gbps usb-c to ethernet dongle for like $30-$40.

Higher end access points also have 2.5 Gbps. I have no issue maxing out my 1.5 Gbps (ISP over provisions the lines so I get 1.7 gbps) on Steam. Also keep in mind that when you have a faster connection with multiple devices/people, each device/person might be able to pull 1 Gbps. As in if you have 2 Gbps internet service even 2 older computers that only have a gigabit internet connection, each could get the full gigabit to them.

If you're the type of person that only uses wifi, you won't see a difference between gigabit and multigigabit connections but plenty of people have ethernet throughout their homes and they make use of faster than gigabit connections.

  • You're way overpaying. I pay $40 for 1.5 Gbps with Bell FTTH. Give them a call and say it's too expensive and see what they can do for you. Or tell them Rogers (if they're in your area) offered you 1.5gbps for $60 and ask if they can beat that.

As for mobile, you should look at new plans. $39 gets you 20 GB $50 gets you 40 GB. Seems like plenty of data imo https://www.koodomobile.com/en/rate-plans?INTCMP=KM_HDD_2023_Plans_RatePlans_40gbfor45_ROC_MBSK

Best time to get a mobile plan is Black Friday, should be even better deals by then.

  • No, this person was asked to meet Linus specifically at the hotel lobby. Meeting someone at a hotel lobby is normal and doesn't imply anything. A hotel room would be very different. But the hotel lobby is a normal place for people to meet and chat.
