  • @RandAlThor People Power happened in 1986. So 8888 happened two years after the Philippine uprising

  • @talkingcat You can install Raddle as a PWA from your browser if you want to access it from your home screen. That will give you an "app-like" experience.

  • @vbb

(New reply because this instance has such a small character limit, dammit)

And in the forum customization part, we also offer more things than Lemmy and kbin, such as the ability to set the background image (with different images for light and dark modes), the ability to embed images in the sidebar, moderator-set flairs, more than two posts pinned to the front page at a time, and forum tags/categories (with multi-forum view from that).

  • @vbb That depends on the communities you're in. In my experience the Anarchism and 196 Raddle forums for example are more active than their counterparts in the fediverse. And of course there's f/touhou, but that's just not fair isn't it? :P

    > real advantages

Raddle does have plenty. For one it's lightweight (you don't even need JavaScript), we have a warrant canary, there's a Tor service, no federation shenanigans like what I've seen now, a lot of reasons documented in https://raddle.me/wiki/why_raddle

  • @vbb There's a reason the "only" is there in the title. I want that to change; I don't want to feel lonely in that position. :)

  • @vbb What about "raddle doesn't seem very promising"? Can you elaborate on that?

I do agree that the other Touhou "communities" I see in the fediverse is just too inactive. Some don't even have styling! I think they just don't really care about creating an alternative at all, which is a shame. Which is why I've posted here, as a challenge for you, as you seem most equipped for it. I genuinely want to see your community succeed. Diversity of 2hu communities is important!!

  • @talkingcat There are no apps for Raddle at the moment. But IMHO the mobile web version works perfectly fine for me; it's snappy, lightweight, and can work with JavaScript disabled. That's what matters for me.

Tbh I don't understand this obsession with apps. A lot of BB-style forums like Moriya Shrine, MSFN, and Maidens of the Kaleidoscope don't have mobile apps either; does that mean they're as bad as Reddit?

  • @[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] HOLY SHIT THE FEDERATION FINALLY WORKED

At least in lemmy.world... It's still not showing in lemmy.blahaj.zone and kbin.social

Not sure why it didn't work with my @job earlier. This shit is why I'm skeptical of federation :P
