I think u.fail is still safe :D -ish
Yes. You could use mailgun.com for example for sending mails. You get 10K free I believe and it's easy to setup
For the hostname aka domain change it to your own, likewise with passwords for each installed service. Like the docs say, most services are additional and not required ;-)
Kbin is super much in alpha dev still! Perhpas tryout Lemmy, thats a little further along (our instance is on https://u.fail)

Try to set a ‘default language’ in account settings. I think it’s a bug that sometimes appears

This is Limmy, on Lemmy.

Our #Kbin instance is now live!
It's also federated and works with platforms like Mastodon, Lemmy etc!
The day I deleted my Facebook account..
I was searching a long time for something self-hosted but that day I found Mastodon and setup an instance right away!
Even without creating an account somewhere first. I just knew!
I'm planning on keeping u.Fail around for sure! Still gotta fix some little things though
Also.. I got some nice domains like 'forum.fail' and 'share.fail' that may be cool for a #Kbin instance later on!
If you would like to support please see my post here <3 https://mstdn.social/@stux/110095696221482024
Here you find the 'default' Lemmy config and our config.. Seems there are no issues there.
The error we'll get in Docker on Lemmy server is:

Issues with (mailgun) SMTP email on u.Fail
Hmm... We're having Lemmy installed via Docker (yes, i know..) and the lemmy-server has connection to the internet The email settings are correct in the config(triple checked) and also created a new Mailgun smtp user to be sure The front-end doesn't seem to get any errors at all but just keeps "lo...
Like my posts on Masto says, we're having issues sending mails from a Docker container
Could use some help here! I'm not a real Docker expert (yet)
There is a new account needed since it's a 'different server' ;-)
