A reunion gift
  • cute

  • You have to REALLY like chandeliers.
  • i think someone just took counterstrike levels and made bad real estate out of them

  • What's going on today that you wish you could have a little help with?
  • i drank too much last night and now i feel a bit too sick. I live alone so cleanup and cooking are a bit challenging

  • Poptart rule
  • Assuming OOP does infact just microwave poptarts and relies on other ready-mades, I don't think they have all the necessary equipment for baking.

I just think it's a tougher place to start in because while you get exact measurements, there's more nuance and less room for improvising.

I tried baking something (pigs in blankets) for the first time after having cooked for years. If you are not fully prepared for every micro-disaster that can strike during dough making, your life will be hell. Cooking pasta only has the prerequisite of knowing how to boil water, and reading the time for how much to boil the noodles.

You can follow the instructions on bread, quantities and time to bake, and yet there's still stuff you have to account for and know from experience.

  • Poptart rule
  • Baking is the worst place to start for a beginner, because it reauires more precision in ingredient quantity and technique. There's little room for error.

Whereas with cooking a simple dish like pasta or rice, you have more leeway with quantities and cooking times and preparation. And wayy more room for error. You can easily experiment with more/less of ingredients because it won't affect the overall dish and flavour much.

Whereas with baking, dough for example is hell. You need an almost astronomical precision unless you want to glue your entire kitchen, or make it too runny, or too floury. Baking also becomes more difficult wihout measurement devices, whereas with cooking trusting something loose like a cup or just eyeballing isn't catastrophic.

  • scrolling in the comment section of this news article, i've only seen people either being concerner/shocked, and some sarcastically talking about recycling or something. Nothing about masturbation.

And if your criticism of lemmy is that it's being reddit with elitism, then why try to gatekeep the way people are going to react to an article on c/science? Are we all supposed to have degrees in chemistry or biology before making a comment?

Believe it or not people take heavy news a million different ways and react differently. People ending up making a masturbation joke after discussing microplastics in testicles (i assume this is what happened) harm nothing and no one.

  • i see, makes sense. Its been a long time since i played HK, but you can also increase charm slots.

Also you're not supposed to be able to use all of them at once, you have to change based on situation (although you can have one charm over thr limit at the cost of double damage received)

good luck with your custom map search though, Hollow Knight is a very good game

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • Why draw maps? theres an NPC that gives you a map of the current area, you can locate him by the sound he makes.

Oh and theres a charm that shows your location at all times on the map

  • Biology rule
  • counterpoints:

This would only hold up if the person is using male/female and not man/female

And assuming this still holds up, why not go with male/woman? The type of people to use this shouldn't be bothered, i mean thry throw the term "alpha male" all the time

Oh wait, i think the solution is to just use man/woman unless you're in a very biological discussion

  • Let the man enjoy his boats
  • probably witnessing mammoths or other animals return to their nest.

However I don't think the happiness would last long

  • Ukrainian drones now spray 4,000° F thermite streams right into Russian trenches
  • Why are you so pressed? What part of what I said is somehow in support of Russia?

Do you then not think that U.S. using Agent Orange wouldnt count as a war crime? or any flamethrower use in WW1? or White Phosphorus?

What would using a banned weapon during war be called if not a war crime?

Clearly these weapons are banned because they are overly cruel, meaning it gets the job too well done.

Last time I checked if someone used banned substances that counts as a crime. And if someone were to break the same rules for war, it would qualify as a crime during wartime (war crime for short).

But no you just think that every hint of criticism against anyone good means that you're against that fully? Have you heard of the word 'nuance' before?

  • Ukrainian drones now spray 4,000° F thermite streams right into Russian trenches
  • It's also a war crime if it's a weapon inflicting excessively injurious or having indiscriminate effects. Like flamethrowers, landmines and blinding lased weapons.

All of these weapons are banned under Geneva Convention, and by using them in a war you would be committing a war crime

  • Lemmy votes ARE public, should they be anonymous?
  • And useful to let you know if a post is actually genuine/useful, or something you should probably ignore and disregard because everyone else that read it before you discarded it as bad

no it must only be for content farming

  • Lemmy votes ARE public, should they be anonymous?
  • okay but you make posts with the expectation they are public. Votes only change a number, and are a way for you to show support/disagreement for something without broadcasting it to everyone.

If you want to broadcast it and make it public you can reply to a comment

  • (at least on Sync) if you go in settings > filters, you can hide posts by certain keywords

  • No thanks. I'm good.
  • Not the shit

    I would hope it's not

  • Looks like Valve is introducing a new review system to filter out "unhelpful" reviews
  • at least these reviews are more informative about a game than the "just leaving this cat here" for thr billionth time

  • I thought I was the only one that ever had hands this itchy
  • I think there's plenty of people (myself included) that had to deal with itching like this before even discovering what masturbation is

  • “It’s for my Insta! Teehee”
  • One simple google of the definition shows it includes all humans. The archaic ('old meaning', if you don't know) meaning did refer to only men, but that's nor the case anymore.

It's not the case anymore because through time and usage lsnguage evolved ( Like you said! ) and it evolved to encompass all humans! Crazy how language does that.

However, for you to selfishly tout about all of this in a post Xompletely unrelated to any of this, and for you to call me an idiot and/or mysoginist because i simply didn't agree with you on this, shoecases just how bad faith you were in the first place.

Oh and what's this? No one giving this much a fuck about this? https://old.reddit.com/r/AskWomen/comments/1wdzcq/how_do_you_feel_about_the_word_mankind_or_the_use/

Clearly you want to be feminist and do something and that's great! Please tackle some actual problems instead of getting fired up over a word that has nothing to do with anything, hasn't bothered anyone, and shouldn't have been an issue to discuss about in a post on disrespecting Holocaust victims.

Have a good day, and I hope you learn from your mistakes and develop some "Think twice before posting"

  • “It’s for my Insta! Teehee”
  • I think itçs very important to bring up how we currently think and perceive words, after you said language shapes how we think.

The word "mankind" isn't male-centric because no one perceives it that way. It cannot possibly be "male-centric" when it was never meant that way and when no one perceives it that way.

However, I'd like to argue that by making this new "Humankind" distinction, you're adding the male-centric view to the term "Mankind", when there wasn't one associated to it in the first place.

I cannot be more clear than this, and I think you are the one arguing in bad faith here perhaps

  • Why is there no notifications when you get a comment reply?

title self-explanatory. Sync is great and all, but i often make comments and then a few days later i remember i made them and i see i got replies

    Cardboard World, me, digital, 2022

this one is based on liminal spaces, and an idea of a story i had that never came to life.

the alternative title for this is "A Happy Place" which i thought adding to the title of this post would make it a word salad :)

Edge of the World, me, digital, 2020

hello! i decided i finally wanted to make lemmy a more active place, so i am going to post my digital art on here.

i don't really have the best art but i hope my contribution will help :) I will post more eventually.

This drawing is one i made in 2020, and it's of a famous place called World's End.

How does having an account per onstance work?

For context i did not know you can use an account from a single instance to post on another. With this in mind I have a few questions:

    1. If I can use one instance account everywhere, why can I make multiple accounts?
    2. Why isn't there a centralised account system?
    3. What's the use of having per instance accounts?

I'm currently considering keeping this main account and deleting the ones on other instances, because if i can interact with those instances I don't see the need for an account.
