Montana is violating the rights of young people with policies that prohibit the state from considering climate change effects when it reviews coal mining, natural gas extraction and other fossil fuel projects, a state judge said Monday.

Selling the illusion of access: Devon Archer testifies about Hunter Biden’s use of his father’s ‘brand’
  • That really wasn't my intention, but I can see why you might think that. For the record I've largely voted Democratic (probably 80%+ over the past 4 election cycles - I do split my ticket typically) - so I'm definitely not trying to strawman here for the right.

I think there's more and more evidence that Biden knew more than he originally admitted to, and that's what I'm referring to. At the end of the day I really just think money corrupts politics and we should call that out whenever we see it.

  • Does EDHREC create feedback loops that limit deck diversity?

Like many others I use EDHREC for card ideas when building decks. This got me thinking - does it essentially reinforce itself?

Often times I pick many of recommended cards that others have chosen with a given commander - which in turn reinforces those cards as synergistic cards for that particular commander. Note: I build using moxfield (which I believe is used as a data source for EDHREC). More recently I've been using scryfall as an additional resource for deckbuliding, and I was really surprised how many cards that work well with a particular commander / archetype are not listed on EDHREC.

Don't get me wrong, I still think EDHREC is a wonderful tool, but now I wonder if it's essentially narrowing down the cards that people consider when building EDH decks due to it's reinforcement loops.

    Thoughts?

Selling the illusion of access: Devon Archer testifies about Hunter Biden’s use of his father’s ‘brand’
  • Trump was incredibly corrupt and certainly deserves to be punished, but this doesn't in anyway excuse what happened with Hunter Biden peddling influence for millions of dollars to foreign companies. When you dig into the details it's really quite shocking. I also fully acknowledge that this probably happens with other powerful families - which I would argue should also be rooted out and potentially punished.

I wish we would stop being so tribal - always rationalizing and defending bad behavior when it's "our side". We should call this out whenever it happens, regardless of party and political affiliation. Politics has become like sports, and we've become like rabid sports fans. It's really dysfunctional.

Personally I think neither party deserves any sort of allegiance whatsoever. They're both working for their own self-interest and to stay in power, and they're largely controlled by elites. I'll vote for whatever candidate talks about the corruption money plays in our political system, which in my opinion this is the largest threat to our democracy.

Windows vs Steam OS for your deck?
  • It seems like almost all the improvements are being made on the Steam OS side. The next Steam OS update (3.5) should have some wonderful new features related to shader compilation, etc. Valve can really tune the OS to the device and they'll continue to do so.

Yes it's true that you can't play specific games - but there are so many games that you can play. Eventually as SteamDeck becomes more common you'll see more and more mainstream support.

I'll definitely stick with Steam OS.

  • EDH Essential Cards - Feedback Requested
  • Thanks for your feedback. I do agree that variety is what makes EDH such a compelling format. I'm mostly trying to help newer players with some "foundational" cards they might want to consider adding to their deck. Perhaps I should rename the package to indicate this.

  • Landmark climate trial over. Judge expected to issue a ruling in weeks.

montanafreepress.org Landmark climate trial comes to a close

District Court Judge Kathy Seeley’s order is expected within weeks.

This is a very interesting trial that will have broad implications for the rest of the country. Some of the plaintiffs are from the Flathead valley (where I currently live).

EDH Essential Cards - Feedback Requested

www.moxfield.com EDH Essentials Package - Package

Overview These are the cards that I put in each and every one of my EDH decks. Note: the only exception would be any mono-colored or colorless EDH decks.

    Hello all,

I've created a moxfield package of the cards that I add to each and every one of my EDH decks. I'd love some feedback on any cards you think I'm missing or if you think I should not classify a card as an "essential" card.

Note: I do not play mono-colored or colorless EDH decks, those would certainly not include several of these cards.

    How is VR on Linux?
  • I have a Valve Index, and for the most part my experience has been really good. I do recommend using an AMD GPU if you are investing in a VR system. I currently have a Nvidia GPU, and the main issue is the lack of async reprojection support.

Lots of games work great, Skyrim VR, Alyx, Contractors, No Mans Sky VR, Boneworks, you name it!

  • Any reddit migrants looking to make this a new home?
  • I'm definitely planning on staying on Lemmy. I currently use the Lemmy.world instance which has been really stable for me. I think when Lemmy becomes "dead simple" for normies to use you'll see more and more people using it.

  • Deck: Sacrifice all for the Queen

www.moxfield.com Sacrifice all for the Queen - Commander (Savra, Queen of the Golgari)

Background I started playing MTG with 4th Edition, but my absolute favorite block of all time is the OG Ravinca block. It was the first block that really embraced "enemy color" combinations (which I always found very intriguing). Of the various guilds, the Golgari guid was one of my favorites, ...

This is one of my favorite EDH decks. It's not too overpowered, as has a pretty novel mechanic that make it a blast to play. Any suggestions / comments are definitely welcome. I also included a primer for the deck outlining some notes about the way to play it / think about it.
