    My advice is to try to relax a bit. For one thing, I think your story shows that your parents care for you. That is a nice thing.

    Don't worry too much about hypocrisy. So long as you hold true to your principles when it is your turn to make an impactful decision vis à vis, for example, becoming a landlord or not, I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of in this situation.

    Perhaps putting some energy toward activism against homelessness in your region will ease your conscience. That would be one way of putting your frustration toward something positive, while reducing your feeling of complicity.
