Ladybird announcement
  • Neat. But it’s kind of concerning to see yet another OSS project hitch it’s community resourcing to Discord.

  • (SOLVED) I'm Going Insane. Why Does Mullvad DNS Not Work Underneath My Linux Machine When Every Other DNS Does?
  • I’ve switched from Quad9 to Mullvad DNS a month ago, and I’ve been noticing some domains aren’t resolving. Domains that shouldn’t be blocked. It feels like Mullvad’s rules are extra restrictive.

  • What skill or talent took you longer than it should have to learn?
  • The key for me was being told: it’s okay to ride (to hold) the clutch a little before/during/after you’re switching gears.

  • That’s great to hear! I’m glad you found the mismatched data 🙏🙏🙏 hopefully finding the root issue doesn’t cost you too many cycles 🫡

  • Caught it again! Seems to be happening quite frequently now. I spot it by looking for mismatched community icons.

  • It’s happened on a previous beta, I can’t remember if it was the last one or the one before that.

I had it happen again yesterday. Not related to those two communities. Same issues, the feed showed one thing, but with mixed data (I think the community thumbnail was displaying the post that actually loads). I’ll make another video when I see it again 🙏

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm noticing on the latest beta, that some posts (haven't found a pattern) will open to a completely unrelated post.

Actually... usually it's related to [email protected], I'm not sure why (I could be wrong too). It's something I've noticed maybe 5-6 times in the last couple of weeks?

I've linked to a screen recording, hopefully it's obvious to you @[email protected]

    Immich v1.102.0 - ⚠️ Breaking Changes (OPT-IN ONLY)
  • Pretty simple to switch (if you have a little docker experience). Create a folder (e.g. ./postgres), add the folder as a volume in the postgres portion of the compose file (maybe something like /db), then run just the database with newly mounted folder, shell in, and copy everything from the Postgres folder to this new folder. After that, swap mounts so the new folder is used as Postgres db and you’re good. If something went wrong, the pgdata volume is still there to switch back to.

  • Got a DM from the OP:

Hey! Sorry, I'm replying in PM instead for this thread. Since I'm new to lemmy, the post was removed on my instance because I didn't have enough karma to post pictures but it still got published to lemmy.ml.

    The things I'm using are:

    • OS: Nix
    • WM: Sway
    • Bar: Waybar
    • Fonts: Iosevka Aile + Pragmata Pro
    • Emacs windows: Eww + Mu4e + .emacs config

  • Rectangle for Linux?
  • Asahi Linux is shaping up nicely. I’ll probably install that soon. 👀

  • recommendations for desktop Lemmy client?
  • Make one, if for nothing else as a portfolio piece!

  • Rectangle for Linux?
  • It’s funny. I have been forced to use macOS because of work, and I use rectangle to mimic what KDE plasma does out of the box. I’d suggest using KDE if you wanted something powerfully customizable and user friendly. If you find something that works with other windows decorations (non-KDE), I’d love to know about them too for when I inevitably switch back to Linux Desktop!

  • Is there an overview of what is being used? 🙏

  • What is the current state of Mlem development?
  • I just want search by post, and I’ll be happy 🥲

  • Sentence case for “Open in Arctic”
  • Glad to help! 🫡 appreciate the quick response 😍

  • Sentence case for “Open in Arctic”
  • Not sure actually. Seems to only show up in Arctic.

Hm. Just tried. Looks like it opens shared URLs to Safari WebView!

  • Sentence case for “Open in Arctic”

Latest share action to Open Lemmy links in Arctic is super handy! Thank you @[email protected] !

I notice that “Open In Arctic” has “in” capitalized, but every other share action on iOS seems to be sentence case. Any way you can make the new Arctic action match the other share actions? 🙏

    Request: orange / red icon

The latest icon in TestFlight is gorgeous! I am loving the mountain iceberg 😍 is there anyway we can get a few variations though? I would love to get that mountain on a orange or reddish background if that’s simple to do 🙏

    Split Tunneling on Linux

I'm trying to use ProtonVPN to set up split tunneling so that my tun0 is the only network device that is protected by ProtonVPN. I need this because I have file & web servers running on this Linux box (Ubuntu).

With previous VPNs I've used, I would use OpenVPN and add to the openvpn config and this work the way I intended:

    route-nopull route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0

With other VPNs I'd just run

    curl --interface tun0 ip.me

And that would return a VPN ip address.

For some reason, ProtonVPN seems to be blocking me from using the same workflow. Is there a working guide for ProtonVPN to do what I'm trying to do?

Displaying OP name@instance for Home feed posts

Is there anyway to display the name and instance of the OP for a post in the Home feed? I see the name displayed for Community feeds.

[Feature Request] First tab icon tap should jump to the top

The biggest feature I notice missing in almost all Lemmy apps, is jumping to the top on the first tap of the tab icon of the view you’re in.

E.g. you’ve scrolled down a bit while in the Posts tab, then you tap the Posts icon, in Apollo, it would jump to the top of the list view in Posts, then second tap would take you to the communities subscribed slideout view.

Avelon does the second function but not the first. Would love to see this added as it’s a great quality of life feature IMO.

Wow. This app is so damned polished already!
