Ethernet port being used while PC is turned off?

Greetings! So recently, i spent a few hours coding software. After i was done and i shut off my pc, i noticed both of the ethernet lights were on and blinking. Does this mean that Microsoft is sending data to their servers before the PC fully shuts off? I am scared that this might be the thing it does. How can i get rid of this issue? I have no idea if it's related to Windows or the PC itself.

I just started caring about my own privacy. What apps should i get rid of, why and what can i replace it with?
  • I just looked at the Home Assistant documentation. I don't feel like switching from Alexa yet, as i still need a way to control my devices via voice commands (without my phone). + i refuse to install ubuntu just for home assistant (ubuntu is ass)

  • Well, all my home appliences rely on Alexa. I do trust amazon as i had no issues with it.

About apple, i did opt out from diagnostic data sharing, filled my icloud drive and disabled find my iphone. Tho to be honest, i had this iphone for 2 years now and havent found a reason to switch yet. (iPhone 12)

Why do you care about privacy?
  • To be honest. What made me care about privacy was social media apps such as Reddit. Every single day, i used to get reddit notifications promoting "the most popular post in my country". Look, at first i didn't care. Now it got annoying, to the point where i replaced Refdit with Lemmy, getting rid of windows, switching to FOSS (free and open source software) apps and also using Degoogled Chromium. While reddit wasnt the only thing i mentioned so far, i hate how Youtube has to know where you live, and giving you directions to the nearest store (for certain ads). This probably may get malliciously used in the future, that's what i got really aware of. Now it really hurt me when Youtube has killed most 3rd party frontends (such as invidious and piped). So in conclusion, Privacy can really matter for me as a lot of services i used to use can now collect data about you.

  • When will we ever get the option for a custom search engine? (Safari)

So as you may know, i am a guy mostly focused on privacy. Basically, insead of google i use SearXNG. (Privacy focused search engine) However, when i went to change the default search engine in safari, there was no option to add a custom search engine.

This really pissed me off. So how come Apple allows changing default browsers in the EU, but not search engines?

    Degoogle Chromium help

Greetings! I have recently ditched google and went with privacy focused alternatives. Such as SearXNG, Invidious, Lemmy etc.

However, while i was using degoogled chromium, i cant install extensions.

Is there any way i can install extensions on Degoogled Chromium? (ik this isnt the right place to ask but eh)

    Thanks a lot!
