This is not a meme, I was trying to find content for an OC /c/programmerhumor post and found this
  • I'd assume this is a product of space users being older and thus earning more, but that is wild speculation.

  • Favourite Game of 2023 so far?
  • System Shock remake. I've adored playing through it and, while it is certainly retro in design elements, it was engaging the whole way through.

  • What was you first megaten game?
  • Technically, my first was P3. But I don't really count that as I think I only made it through the May. I count Devil Survivor Overclocked, which was just so much fun. I want to finish it but I'm stuck on a boss and now can't really justify pulling out the 3DS to play it. Since P5, I've been in love with the entire Megaten space and I've been slowly working my way through some of the games.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • I sure hope there are some updates to the mechanics. Tartarus alone is rough, but simple things like the Velvet room also felt super slow. Some QoL speed up would be very nice. Also, if they don't do any updates to mechanics, I think it will raise even bigger questions about why the hell they released P3 on PC a few months ago.

Granted, those questions were raised at the time as well, but if there aren't mechanical updates, there doesn't seem to be a real reason to do a remake.

  • I crave mental lint. What are some interesting facts that the hivemind (you) have stored away?
  • My favorite patent law case is about two orange juice soda vending companies who both had fake juice displays fighting about whether the one fake juice display violated the patent of the other fake juice display company. The case name is quite literally the base case name in history: Juicy Whip vs Orange Bang. https://www.quimbee.com/cases/juicy-whip-inc-v-orange-bang-inc

  • Any good detective games you all would recommend?
  • A lot of detective games are mostly point and click adventure games, which generally are older games or more indie style. That said there are a few I can think of:

The Gabriel Knight games have a lot of good detective elements, including some good puzzle solving. https://www.gog.com/en/game/gabriel_knight_sins_of_the_fathers

Chicken Police has a really neat interrogation mechanic and a fantastic noir setting. Its a bit silly all things considered, but the detective elements are fun. I've not beaten the game, but the time I've put into its fun. https://www.gog.com/en/game/chicken_police

In a similar vein, Backbone is a noir detective game set in an animal setting. The detective mechanics feel weaker, and the game seems to force you on to the critical path pretty hard, but its still been fun so far. https://www.gog.com/en/game/backbone

Finally, this is a horror game, but unraveling the mystery is fun and the game doesn't railroad you on the critical path too hard. Simulacra is a game about a guy who receives a mysterious cell phone and he is using all the tools available on the phone to uncover the identity of the owner. Short and engrossing. https://www.gog.com/en/game/simulacra

  • Why Perl?
  • Based solely off the implications of this post, it seems Perl is installed default on most Linux distros and MacOS, but not Windows. https://www.perl.com/article/downloading-and-installing-perl-in-2021/

  • Any good synthwave?
  • I'm a fan of Makeup and Vanity Set and Waveshaper.

  • Interview with an Emacs Enthusiast in 2023 [Colorized]
  • I've also switched to Neovim. It was just easier to customize and I really didn't need all the extra operating system features built into Emacs.

  • electronic fans?
  • I'm certainly an electronic music fan, though that is a pretty broad range of music. I am especially a fan of retrowave or sometimes more specifically labeled pixelwave music. Big fan of rainbowdragoneyes and Makeup and Vanity Set.

While not purely "electronic," they have a similar vibe, I'm a big fan of Machinae Supremacy. Though I learned of them from a Swede I played a tiny MMO with over 10 years ago.

  • What's everyone's thoughts on split or tented keyboards?
  • I want a split, but I cannot yet justify buying another mech board. I've got three currently, and I use one at work, one on my personal PC, and one on my workstation/server machine. I may be able to justify it in the future if my arms/hands start hurting.
