  • Moissanite is a nonporous stone, so it doesn't get cloudy. It can get dirty on the surface like a diamond, but you can just rinse it off. On the other hand, a diamond will turn cloudy if it is in a house fire, while moissanite will not.

Naturally occurring moissanite is extremely rare, while naturally occurring diamond not so much. A geologist might judge you for wearing something that isn't real moissanite but a knockoff with a lower refractive index.

  • The argument against student loan forgiveness is that there are better ways to spend the money, like on universal childcare, than on people with college degrees. Basically any social program you can think of will give a higher return to society. The only reason to support student loan forgiveness over these other programs is for votes.

  • Combining two different internet debates
  • If the pole is entering the portal at the rate of 60 miles per hour, it must exit the portal at the same rate. After a minute, 1 mile of pole has entered the portal, and 1 mile has exited it. If it exits more slowly than it enters, where is the missing part of the pole?

  • No, we wouldn't be, Mr. Negative Karma Throwaway. A recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth. The US had exactly two in Q1 2022 and Q2 2022 before going back to positive growth. The US had a much larger recession in Q1 and Q2 2020 before a big recovery in Q3 2020. https://www.statista.com/statistics/188185/percent-change-from-preceding-period-in-real-gdp-in-the-us/

  • They're not worth it!
  • Metric is a product of the French Revolution, as well as decimal currency like cents. Some decimalization from the French Revolution didn't catch on widely, like gradians for measuring angles or decimal minutes, hours, and weeks. The imperial units were standardized by various monarchies (hence the name).

  • A good reminder that NFTs are shit
  • I've been doing cryptography since 2000. I'm just not dumb enough to think that decentralized trustless ledgers have any practical use. 🤣🤣🤣

    It’s not true.

I'm glad you finally came to that conclusion. This means you should use a centralized ledger, and you've been wasting your time. Perhaps in another few years, you'll figure out that a centralized authority has to determine who gets a vote to cast and give up your blockchain voting pipe dream as well. 🤣🤣🤣

It’s being talked about in regards to land deeds that can survive changes in power structures and authority.

The people who talk about that are idiots. Changes in power structure and authority can say that one chain is no longer is in force, replacing it with another chain or a centralized ledger if they have any brains. 🤣🤣🥳🥳

  • I can guarantee that I know more about proof of stake than you do. It is physically impossible for a decentralized ledger to be more efficient than a centralized one.

The government ultimately decides ownership, whether that is deciding which of many decentralized ledgers tracks ownership or which of many centralized ledgers, so using a decentralized ledger is always pure waste.

  • A good reminder that NFTs are shit
  • I can claim ownership on another chain in just the same way that I can claim ownership on another centralized database. The only difference is that I waste a lot more energy with the former, and everyone will think I'm a dumbass.

  • Why you shouldn't use Brave Browser
  • If he was a bigot back then, is he still a bigot now?

Yes, he is. As I said, he has posted why he spent money to deny gay people the right to marry and to nullify the marriages of gay people who were already married, and he has not apologized for it since.

    Which is almost never.

Then there is no problem. Just tell people to use Firefox.
