I know people like this. For some reason people affected by different policies are surprised because they thought he was kidding. Deportations? Na, he's not actually gonna do that. Tarrifs? Na, he wouldn't do that.
I know, he literally said he would, but idk.
I might be having this issue. When I update an item the UI doesn't get updated. However, if I refresh the UI by searching for something else, then go back to my updated item, I see the new values.
It's really annoying.
I installed via pacman.
I also got mine recently! Definitely agree with the rough around the edges part. This is definitely an artisanal, hand-rolled, music player. It... doesn't seem very durable. Mine rattles when I move it...
I bought it to support open source and because I'm hoping it'll last a long time. (As long as I don't move it too much.)
But I dont wanna use my phone. Usually, I try to keep that as far away as possible.
I wanted touch screen and Android

Is Standard Notes owned/made by Proton??
Even better!
Add Fucking to Your Google Searches to Neutralize AI Summaries
Google will probably close this loophole soon enough.
> We are going to go out on a limb here and say that if people are regularly finding techniques to disable AI summaries in Google searches, perhaps that means they do not want them in the first place?
surely you are not surprised that given a candidate that shows some interest, and a candidate that doesn’t care, the company would prefer the former.
Definitely. That's why I lie.
if someone else is, then they will probably be easier to work with.
I actually really challenge this point. Specifically because I don't care, I would say I'm very easy to work with. Example: Did the manager just order us to do something really stupid? Sounds good to me! I'm on it, boss! On the other hand, I've worked with tons of people who care way too much. Sometimes it seems like they think it's their company. Those people are hard to work with.
The order doesn't even have to be stupid, it can just be something the passionate employee disagrees with. At a previous company, we were told to make some app work because we had an important demo coming up. One super passionate dude on my team almost derailed us because he insisted that we fix the app the "correct" way. In theory, he was correct, however in practice he was dead wrong.
I didn't care either way, so I just made the thing work.
I could say “I noticed you use MQTT for networking the pots...
Yeah, this is the same game I play. I avoid answering their question of "Why FlowerPot.ly?" and just give some generic answer that applies to any company, not specifically FlowerPot.ly. I would also throw in some lies like, "My brother owns an IoT flower pot. I think it's so cool!".
Probably nothing because I would waste the time thinking about what I should do.
Imagine you got 3 job offers ... the interviewer wants to know why his company is the one you’d choose
Because you expressed interest in hiring me? And I need a job? So I'm here? I'd also be perfectly content picking the other 2 companies if it's the same salary.
What caught your eye about this job posting?
The fact that you guys said you were hiring?
they’d prefer someone who is interested
I guess this is the real problem. I don't care about your company. I'm here to exchange my time for money. I have my own interests and they don't involve working at your company.
But, yes fine. I understand this is the game I have to play. I will lie to you and tell you that it's been my dream since I was a little kid to work at your dumb company, selling shit that no one needs or tricking people into giving you money.
One company that asked me this made... let's say IoT flower pots (something mundane like that)... I guess I'm supposed to say: OMG! I. LOVE. CONNECTED. FLOWER. POTS! How did humanity survive without internet connected flower pots??! My sole purpose in life is to help make IoT flower pots. Please allow me to join you guys! 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️
Is it not possible to have something like this?
- Job: We need someone who can build IoT flower pots.
- Me: Yep, give me enough money and I'll do it.
- Job: OK.
Can you send a DM in Mastodon?
Is the DM button called "Privately mention"? Or is that something else?
Thoughts on WebDAV, CardDAV, and CalDAV hosting?
Currently, my email is hosted at Migadu. The email hosting is fine. However, they don't seem to offer strong *DAV support. They don't really advertise it and the little documentation they have says "we offer basic calendar support. Please be aware this is a beta feature and some functionalities are missing".
Is there such a thing as a DAV provider, like email provider, but only for WebDAV, CardDAV, and CalDAV?
Or is the answer just to self host Radicale or sabre?
It seems like if I want better DAV support, I'd have to switch email providers... which is kinda annoying.
I still keep my contacts and calendars on Google because it seems the most stable. I don't care about having the maximum possible privacy, I just care about not losing the data.
Someone told me about etesync, but I didn't like it because it's not DAV and you have to use their client apps.
I'm really surprised that most companies have standardized on DAV for contacts and calendars. That seems great because (theoretically) I can use any client.
Sorry, I meant it's up my alley to have this phone up my ally.
I'm in the middle of job interviews right now. I hate this question so much.
I want to work here because I need money! WTF are you talking about??? Are you a real human??
Hahahaha. He's saying he doesn't approve of my tastes in phones.
The whole workflow and philosophy of sourcehut is so different than GitHub though. I think a lot more people would be interested in GitHub, but federated.
There's also this which some people may care about.
Forgejo is implementing federation
Interesting!
I don need it... I don need it... I definitely don need it...
Uh... I wonder what the reviews will be like... this is definitely up my ally alley... Dang it, Lemmy.
Update: fixed spelling.
Hold strong!
You'll never fail anything if you don't try! This guys figured it out!
