Does anyone here on Lemmy log into a Remote Desktop on their iPad using VMWare Horizon? How’s the experience?
Go Knicks! Would love to have OG back, but gotta make do with the ever-decreasing lineup.
That accurately describes me. I have two kids. My older one will be 3 at the end of the month.
This weekend I aim to relax as much as my children will let me. But my younger daughter turns one on Sunday. So, we’ll likely celebrate that.
New Miami football commit, interior offensive lineman, Takaylen Muex has been compared to a current Hurricane by offensive line coach Alex Mirab
The alternative version is also pretty good.
He’s…. Passionate. I have no ill will toward him, but I also don’t watch much of him.
Knicks were absolutely decimated by injuries this year. Really unfortunate.
Great! I’m not much of a poet, but I can imagine it’s a great creative outlet.
Knicks fan here, optimistically (and, indeed, stupidly) looking forward to the Eastern Conference finals. I just want to see Cleveland give the Celtics a fight.
I also feel that my brain has been uncooperative as of late. But I blame that mostly on lack of sleep, stress, and burnout.
We’re inching closer to the start of the 2024-2025 college football season.
At this point we’ve had signing day and a bunch of transfers. Who’s your offseason champ?
I’ll make my very biased case for the Miami Hurricanes.
Solid recruit class, and great transfer portal pick ups in Cam Ward, Sam Brown, and Damien Martinez, among others. We’ve also lost a few good ones in the portal, though.
All that said, I’ve dubbed the Canes “Offseason Champs” several times before, and it has not quite translated to anything on the field.
Led by Jalen Brunson’s 44 points, the Knicks took a commanding 121-91 win over the Pacers in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead in their second-round playoff series.
The Pacers’ beat down of the Knicks in Game 4 had me feeling a little pessimistic. But they bounced back and did the same to the Pacers in Game 5!
Game 6 will be Friday in Indiana.
That old saying of “when it rains, it pours,” is very much true sometimes. Hang in there, dad.
For sure. Responding is the natural thing to do. But, for me at least, I end up reading every response and deciding if I’m safe to just remove the first reported comment, or every child comment, or a mix.
Maybe some mods just delete the parent comment and all children to keep it simple, but I try to weigh each response fairly.
You're probably better off not interacting with the content that you're reporting.
I’ll second this. Responding to the problematic content usually just leads to a lot more problematic content that the mods need to sort through.

Thanks, Blaze, for taking the initiative. I do think consolidation would help drive some conversation. I looked into contacting some of the mods yesterday to get their input, but noticed that a good number (almost all) have not been active on Lemmy for several months.
The only mod that appears to be active is the one for [email protected] (the only one I wasn’t subscribed to, funny enough).
That might help the decision if the dads of Lemmy do want to consolidate.
Yeah, I think I even suggested that awhile back on one of those communities. It might be worth me reaching out to each of the mods to try and coordinate that.
Congrats! There’s a bunch of dad-based communities on Lemmy. None are as active as this community, unfortunately, but definitely join some of them and reach out if you need any advice from other dads!
Edit:
I’ve been drinking “The Saint” bourbon from St. Augustine Distillery, on the rocks.
Confidently incorrect
Edit: aaand just realized what community this is.
It’s been a busy week. 6 weeks until my vacation, and I’m counting down the days.
Brunson missed a good portion of the first half, and things looked bad for a while. But he came out in the second half and Knicks took care of business.
Game 3 will be Friday, May 10 @ 7pm Eastern in Indiana.
I’ve noticed that links often contain duplicative text if you don’t have the compact link setting selected. The post title is usually the link headline, and then part of the link body is usually displayed right under the title. Then, on the link, the same exact headline and body are shown again on the link preview. See image for example. Not a huge deal, but could save some space to eliminate the duplicative text in the link preview.
Awesome work on the multi-communities! I haven’t had a chance to extensively test it, but I set one up quickly. Liking it a lot so far!
No idea how. It looked like Pacers had that one in the bag. But Knicks kept it close and somehow came out with the W.
Game 2 will be Wednesday, May 8 at 8pm Eastern in NY.
The Miami Hurricanes hosted Michigan State high priority DT Simeon Barrow for a visit, and now he's a Cane.
The Sporting News had you covered with live updates, highlights and more from the Knicks' thrilling Game 6 win over the 76ers.
Go Knicks!
Pacers up next.
A university professor broke a record for the longest time living underwater without depressurization this weekend at a Florida Keys lodge for scuba divers.

> A Florida man living underwater won’t resurface even after breaking the record > > KEY LARGO, Fla. (AP) — A university professor broke a record for the longest time living underwater without depressurization this weekend at a Florida Keys lodge for scuba divers. > > Joseph Dituri’s 74th day residing in Jules’ Undersea Lodge, situated at the bottom of a 30-foot-deep lagoon in Key Largo, wasn’t much different than his previous days there since he submerged March 1. > > Dituri, who also goes by the moniker “Dr. Deep Sea,” ate a protein-heavy meal of eggs and salmon prepared using a microwave, exercised with resistance bands, did his daily pushups and took an hour-long nap. Unlike a submarine, the lodge does not use technology to adjust for the increased underwater pressure. > > The previous record of 73 days, two hours and 34 minutes was set by two Tennessee professors — Bruce Cantrell and Jessica Fain — at the same location in 2014. > > But Dituri isn’t just settling for the record and resurfacing: He plans to stay at the lodge until June 9, when he reaches 100 days and completes an underwater mission dubbed Project Neptune 100. > > The mission combines medical and ocean research along with educational outreach and was organized by the Marine Resources Development Foundation, owner of the habitat. > > “The record is a small bump and I really appreciate it,” said Dituri, a University of South Florida educator who holds a doctorate in biomedical engineering and is a retired U.S. Naval officer. “I’m honored to have it, but we still have more science to do.” > > His research includes daily experiments in physiology to monitor how the human body responds to long-term exposure to extreme pressure. > > “The idea here is to populate the world’s oceans, to take care of them by living in them and really treating them well,” Dituri said. > > The outreach portion of Dituri’s mission includes conducting online classes and broadcast interviews from his digital studio beneath the sea. During the past 74 days, he has reached over 2,500 students through online classes in marine science and more with his regular biomedical engineering courses at the University of South Florida. > > While he says he loves living under the ocean, there is one thing he really misses. > > “The thing that I miss the most about being on the surface is literally the sun,” Dituri said. “The sun has been a major factor in my life – I usually go to the gym at five and then I come back out and watch the sunrise.”
That was a tough loss. I have a bad feeling about the rest of the series. Hope the Knicks can bounce back and close this out in Philly.
Three Miami Hurricanes were selected Saturday on the third and final day of the 2024 National Football League Draft.

A large black bear climbed up a tree and was caught on camera relaxing on some branches at Heritage Bay Boulevard.
A reminder to those that live in or visit SWFL, respect the wildlife. In addition to bears, you might find bobcats, panthers, coyotes, alligators, and some other creatures I wouldn’t recommend petting.
