I never read this one as a kid, but finally read it last year. Pretty enjoyable- it felt plausible enough that you could believe he was surviving out there.
For nonfiction, a good source is checking the bibliography or works cited section of the book. Sometimes there will even be a suggested reading section back there, too.
I read the His Dark Materials trilogy for the first time when I was an adult and really enjoyed it. Lots of interesting ideas and the characters have stuck with me! Pullman has also released two out of the three books of a sequel-ish trilogy and when that series is complete I plan to read that one as well!
For me, the main purpose of having books I haven’t read is that I (almost) always have something available when I want to read a new book, no matter what kind of book I’m in the mood for!
And also book shopping and collecting is fun and is a totally separate hobby than reading, ha ha!
Same here. I would love to check out the app when it releases for iOS though.
How cool, I’ve never seen one flowering before!

Have you read any of the books listed in this article? How were they? I haven’t read any of these, or even heard of most of them. War With the Newts sounds like it would be an interesting and funny read, and I’ve been meaning to pick up Her Body and Other Parties.
Some of us (it’s me) had never even heard of federated sites before. Fediverse, Mastodon, Lemmy, Beehaw, what are those? I’ve been having to do some research, ha ha!
So far Beehaw seems like a chill place to chat, I’m interested to see how things go in the next few weeks!
Thanks! I figured that was it but didn’t want to start pressing buttons on a platform I’m not familiar with!
This might be a good place to ask, so how do we report something that needs a mod to look at it? Is it the little flag inside the three dots menu?
I’ve got the Merlin app for keeping track of my bird list! I’ll have to check out Seek!
Is walking a hobby, ha ha! A walk around the neighborhood enjoying the trees and birds always makes me feel better. Walking around the nature preserve close to me is also super peaceful and relaxing. I also like feeding the birds in my yard- watching their behavior is fascinating and entertaining!
