Trying to be nice. I really dislike the Reddit style aggressive comments. If you are rude I will block and ban you.
Ultimately are being, actions, and decisions are made up from a web of inter-being and connections. If there is an us we are most certainly influenced greatly by external factors.
Or some random hobby vs the small work we need to do
Thanks for further explaining.
I’ve been super frustrated by lemmy posting vague info then going to watch some Linux and selfhosting YouTubers for them to only explain or gossip the issue for 20 minutes without alternatives.
So far trying librefox.
Thanks! This is great to know.
Open Source Github Repositories in Danger of being Deleted

I mean I’m not sure! The way you worded accounts being deleted or repos made me think you meant in general
Edit Yeah you say worth preserving. So for me I will go back those up!
Fully agree, that’s a good point! No-self is a radical idea. What got you interested in it?
When I first learned of meditating it also was a really new experience for me, letting my mind try to sit quietly. Coming from a you are a bad Christian if you don’t sit quietly and talk to god church lol.
When in China I love a nice big apartment because that’s what most families have access to especially if you want to live downtown. Countryside houses are nice but I prefer being able to just go out and do what I want. That said, I recently was walking around the countryside with my child and it is quite nice. Only 5 drive to small city and 20 to big city.
In America I 100% prefer a big house. I’ve lived in all of the above and since most American cities suck imo I would prefer to have my own land and space. Really makes me miss living in eastern piedmont with beautiful mountain views every time you get up.
In Japan I would also want a house! Best of both worlds were you can have your own big house and live downtown. You might not have much of a yard though. My dream would be this would a backyard big enough to play with the family, grill, and hang laundry.
Who attacks them? So silly.
Thanks for sharing this
I find it hard to start though, like most unfamiliar things
I think the biggest ones that would suck if lost would be Qbit, Jellyfin, and Trilium. Qbit because it download and share a lot with it. Jellyfin because of most of my family’s media consumption is via it. And trilium because most of my notes from the past year plus are there plus imported others. It’s essential.
Thanks!
Nice of you to reply such :)
Its philosophy really fits with the way I think. I don’t think it asks for letting go for all that is material, but the attachments. For instance minimalism could be framed as the former not the latter.
Yeah giving 100% to a way of thinking and practice is really hard! I feel this applies to everything
Thanks for an actual answer
Wonder if there’s a docker to backup and update repos
You’ve inspired me to try to exercise for the dopamine
Good point, libreoffice sucks for word
But if you sub to all of them then there is zero need for such a feed. It adds extra work of making the feed and having to select the feed. There is barely enough content for viewing subscribed my new, why split a post or two a day into a separate feed?
Insinuating I don’t have a sense of humor because I said this dad joke doesn’t fit is a bit much.

Seeking advice. I'm having trouble handling monthly finances and week budgets with multiple credit cards. What should I do?
I feel I should get rid of them or stop using them but most have good benefits so I am unsure what I should do. I tried using YNAB but it isn't how I think about money. I really need to stick to my budget but with my partner and child I feel money is constantly flowing out.
- Sams card great for Sams and gas. Free. Only use for the above.
- PNC unlim good all around and free.
- Older PNC card, told not to cancel because it is free for my credit. Only pay utils on it. Not worried about this one.
- Amazon card, 5% discount on amazon for family essentials, free.
- Amex, 95$, good all around, and great customer support.
I'm thinking I should possible cancel Amex and Amazon because they easily add up, then focus on just using my main PNC unlim card. Thoughts on this?
The Amazon discount and Amex purchase protection are both nice but having more than one with so many purchases as a family is stressful.
I don't see any reason to cancel the old PNC card or Sams card. Use around 100$ a month on them.
As paper material is often more long lasting and safer than digital, what do you decide to keep physical copies of?
After learning this I printed off my PhD notes, prelims, and current dissertation.
I think datahoarding isn’t just keeping digital materials but taking care of what we have!
Maybe one of my two favorite academic books on Buddhism: The Other Side of Zen: A Social History of Sōtō Zen, Buddhism in Tokugawa Japan
This is a really good read for academics, Buddhist practitioners, and the general public seeking to understand Zen Buddhism in Japan. Most interesting fact you will learn is the average Zen monastic probably never meditated.
> Popular understanding of Zen Buddhism typically involves a stereotyped image of isolated individuals in meditation, contemplating nothingness. This book presents the "other side of Zen," by examining the movement's explosive growth during the Tokugawa period (1600-1867) in Japan and by shedding light on the broader Japanese religious landscape during the era. Using newly-discovered manuscripts, Duncan Ryuken Williams argues that the success of Soto Zen was due neither to what is most often associated with the sect, Zen meditation, nor to the teachings of its medieval founder Dogen, but rather to the social benefits it conveyed.
> Zen Buddhism promised followers many tangible and attractive rewards, including the bestowal of such perquisites as healing, rain-making, and fire protection, as well as "funerary Zen" rites that assured salvation in the next world. Zen temples also provided for the orderly registration of the entire Japanese populace, as ordered by the Tokugawa government, which led to stable parish membership.
> Williams investigates both the sect's distinctive religious and ritual practices and its nonsectarian participation in broader currents of Japanese life. While much previous work on the subject has consisted of passages on great medieval Zen masters and their thoughts strung together and then published as "the history of Zen," Williams' work is based on care ul examination of archival sources including temple logbooks, prayer and funerary manuals, death registries, miracle tales of popular Buddhist deities, secret initiation papers, villagers' diaries, and fund-raising donor lists.
Just wanted to share to make sure you do your backups this week!
I went on Immich and all of my photos were gone. Luckily it was just a Redis issue because of a sudden shut down. Regardless I backed everything up to another server.
No point it hoarding what’s important if you can’t keep it safe
