Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ties to white nationalist Nick Fuentes revealed
  • Both of these people suck. But downvoting because the article doesn’t really feel like political news? Seems very sensationalized.

  • Oh wow, that’s scary. I’m semi-rural too, thankfully I don’t hear much about accidents or incidents in roundabouts at least locally. I’m curious about areas where there are pedestrians and bikes that cross roundabouts too… where I’m at they are farther away from walkable/bikeable territory so it’s really just cars using them.

  • I’m going to assume positive intent and not the hostile tone “knock it off” reads like to me.

True… roundabouts took some time but are pretty prevalent now in my region and people have gotten used to them. I don’t think the US shouldn’t try things, just pointing out a difference in culture and attitude towards cars & bikes in the US compared to Dutch. I also don’t think a college town is the right place to test something like this, maybe I’m wrong and discounting younger drivers too heavily.

  • Road Design That Sends Cars Into Bike Lanes Demonstrated For The First Time In Michigan
  • I trust the Dutch with this design, bikes are treated as priority with a lot of respect. Not the same in the US… and in this test, I especially wouldn’t trust college town kids and local drivers who asked for (and got) additional parking on the same street.

  • But it's just not the same. There are no apps. The format is not reader-friendly. Usability is way low.

Hang in there, there’s an app Artemis coming in the next couple of weeks. I believe it’ll be a public beta so prob lots of QOL thinks to work out, but it’s coming.

Separately, I am personally perfectly OK if kbin is not like the Reddit experience in terms of community and content. I prefer it that way.

  • So why do you perfer Kbin over Lemmy?
  • I can’t wait for Artemis!

  • So why do you perfer Kbin over Lemmy?
  • Preference: Kbin, because of the UI / UX

But also: I have accounts on kbin, Lemmy and mastadon, my favorite part is switching when I need a different flavor of hot/active, or something’s going on with another server.

  • So why do you perfer Kbin over Lemmy?
  • Which UI?

ETA: asking since people will see this across the fediverse, and may not realize where you posted this

  • Hundreds of thousands of vote-by-mail requests erased from Florida's system
  • TIL that NBC has a sequel.

Also this bit helps understand a bit more why these requests are missing. Counties are simply following a very shitty new Desantis law.

However, a new law signed by Governor Ron DeSantis requires counties to purge requests before every general election.

  • What we all know is these types of bigots are on the outs. Shame the fuck out of them, they don’t do anything positive for your communities. They are wildly thrashing (with seemingly powerful national voices). They will never completely go away but they are reacting to a change in the norms that’s been coming for decades.

  • Yeah I didn’t get my point across very well. I was thinking about folks that ignore the tl;dr

  • Tl;dr has evolved to mean I just don’t want to bother please recap it for me
  • I’m probably being over idealistic. I like summaries and I look for those myself! It’s frustrating when there’s a post but the OP doesn’t provide any point of view. But I also see a lot of comments on kbin/lemmy/fedi that either ignore the summary or don’t bother to check out the context. I’m really interested in what people think I guess.

  • Excited, indifferent or not excited for splatfest?

I love the world vibe and tricolor, although the turf war grind is pretty boring and I miss ranked modes. Probably not a hot take.

    Splatoon fans?

The Kbin Splatoon community is kinda quiet, do we have more Splatoon fans out there on Kbin or elsewhere? I found a good Lemmy spot too.

    Splatfest!

Jul 14-Jul 16. Torn between vanilla and strawberry, going purely off what I actually enjoy. What are you all picking?

Also looks like the Tricolor stage will be Barnacle and Dime. I haven’t played that one much, curious how it will turn out for Tri.

Reddit hated emojis, how does Kbin feel?

Seemed like emojis in posts / comments would get downvoted to oblivion on Reddit. I don’t see the same thing on Kbin (or other instances / services).

LPTR: fastest way to fall asleep?

More info: I’ve tried a few methods, including devices out of reach with no light, and breathing techniques. Breathing seems to be closest but I seem to have a hard time getting to a point where my breaths really slow down and relax.
