I have hosed so many installs over the past 20 or so years that it's impossible for me to guess a number. It's part of the learning process. Just keep at it and you'll get there.

I have been pirating since the days of message boards and never once used a VPN. I can not speak for other countries, but IMO if you are in the US the only reason you would need a VPN is if your ISP throttles p2p traffic or you regularly download from public sites.

I 100% use it to write pen testing scripts.

Win11 for work laptop. Wn11 on my personal desktop, with WSL. I use Debian on my personal laptop and a number of "servers" running Debian.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with it. It functions and it's very straight forward. But I can see why someone would say it looks outdated.

I recently started using Linux again after a 15+ year hiatus. The Debian installer looks exactly the same as it did when I stopped using it. I'm not hating, just stating why it might look outdated for some people.
