Netflix is planning to raise prices... again
  • In my case is a cost one for sure, I just cant afford to pay for every single streaming platform, I pay for spotify no problem, all my music is in there.

  • I'm so glad I can just pirate everything I want

  • WE NEED MORE SOLDIERS!!!!
  • Funny thing is, this is exactly what reddit wants. When it's time to show the traffic after API shutdown they'll show the traffic of all the users that are protesting, and guess what, it'll be higher than before the API shutdown

  • Really cool design, would it be snappy? I mean if you slide a bit it snaps to an upvote, so it's easier to choose the action you want to perform.

  • I for sure will be deleting my account soon. Twitter became filled with spam recently, nothing interesting left to do there.

  • This is amazing, I loved boost

  • It's sad, but it seems to me you adapted to the fediverse, I see you on my frontpage every time I check it, great content, good job!

  • I pretty much lost motivation when I saw 3 posts a day saying they hated bots /s.
But honestly, at this point the bot is usable, if someone needs more functionality they can fork it if they want.

Some updates for BotIt: I have it running indefinitely on DigitalOcean + other things.

Hello to the 2 users reading this! I've noticed some people using the bot already!

I now have it running permanently on DigitalOcean getting posts from r/worldnews. The username is @botlt\_test, if you see it say hi!.

    What's changed? ----------

    • The bot now uses the link-preview-js library to get more information about the link it's posting, meaning if it's able to find a description for the link, it will post it as description/content of the post.
    • I've organized the code so it's easier to modify it if you want to.

    What now? ----------

Well that was a very short "What's changed?" section, and that leads me to this one. I'm thinking of adding support for other platforms, or maybe just RSS feeds in general, but I would like to know if you (2 users) have any suggestions, any new features you want to see, etc. I will also add a docker file so it's easier to setup.

I don't know what else to say but yeah, I thought I needed to say a couple of things :) Thank you to the people using the bot and I hope is useful to you!

Introducing Kbin Link: Navigate between communities with ease

Greetings, kbeans! I wanted to inform you that Kbin Link is now available on the Firefox Extension Store. If you're interested, you can find more information about it here: https://github.com/driccio98/kbin-link.

Kbin Link is a browser extension designed to simplify your browsing experience across different online communities. It detects community mentions in the format of "[email protected]" and it recognizes links in the format of "https://lemmy.word/c/memes" across any website and adds a convenient icon at the beginning. This icon allows you to quickly redirect to the corresponding community on Kbin, where you can easily subscribe to it.

Since this is a small project, there may be a few bugs or areas for improvement. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, please let me know by leaving an issue on the GitHub repository.

Edit: Soon on the chrome store too!

    Link to firefox store: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/kbin-link/

    Thank you for your support!

Seems like #kbin is federating again? That's really refreshing to see.

Why are you not seeing as many posts from Lemmy communities on Kbin?

Hello! You may have noticed that the majority of posts and threads in your feed on Kbin are from within the platform itself. This is because the admin has activated Cloudflare DDoS protection which basically slows down requests to kbin, to prevent the website from experiencing downtime or becoming slow to respond.

Before implementing this measure, Kbin would often show 500 errors and be sluggish in its performance. The admin (ernest), has been working on finding solutions.

So hopefully, everything should go back to how it was before, and you will see a lot more posts from the communities you have subscribed to with a bunch of comments from other places.

In my opinion, this also created an interesting situation where you can really see how active kbin is even when the discovery of posts from outside the platform is not functioning as intended.

Rest assured, this is only temporary, and in the meantime, take the opportunity to create and grow communities from within kbin itself!

Hi /kbin! I'm currently working on a small browser extension for /kbin users.

This extension helps users subscribed to Lemmy communities by adding an icon before mentions or URLs related to other communities. These mentions can be in the format "!communityname" or through URLs like "https://lemmy.ml/c/memes".

By clicking the icon, users are directed to the kbin URL of that community. However, there's currently a bug preventing it from working on /kbin (ironically), and I've already reported the issue on Git.

I'm in the process of publishing the extension on Firefox and Chrome extension stores, along with making the source code available.

I would appreciate your input on whether you find this extension useful.

    Thank you!

Can you see kbin posts/articles and subscribe to magazines (communities) from lemmy?

The title, I'm curious to know since kbin ≠ lemmy. Can you see magazines and posts on your feeds? Can you find magazines on your search bar?

Edit: Magazines are to kbin what communities are to Lemmy. Also keep in mind that the communities on kbin are much smaller.

Edit 2: For example, if you look for this community https://kbin.social/m/EASportsFC on your search bar like @[email protected] does it appear?
