This is awesome, thank you for sharing!
Apple in the US is more or less a status symbol too for people who aren't tech savvy. They just know it costs more than other things, so they assume it must be better.
I think you bring up a pretty important point about federation in that it allows for and even encourage expansion in some ways, so that's a good way to keep optimistic about it. I guess I just feel a little embarrassed. Especially when you look at posts like the recent one asking Lemmy users how they feel about the reddit refugees, and it's flooded with responses from Reddit refugees instead offering unsolicited feedback about design choices. Then you have threads like this with people laying claim to the fediverse more or less. It just feels like some kind of a Christopher Columbus situation. While I realize that might be a little tone-deaf it's the best analogy I have for it.
This is a fantastic idea, thank you.
Gonna be honest it's kinda weird to me as someone who did just move over that there's a bunch of posts from people who just found the Fediverse claiming it as home while there's people who have been here since it's creation. It's got the implication that this was created as some sort of next jump from Reddit which doesn't really seem to be the case from my perspective.
Haven't tried the remasters but I did come here to say that my favorite pixel game of all time is FF6. I know part of it is just nostalgia but I also just absolutely love the story and the mechanics. The magic system is great and I personally enjoyed it more than what was put into place in 7 with materia.
Especially if they're attached to a tabletop!
Check out Odysee
I believe you have to share the link in a specific way but I'm not 100% on that one
Also pretty much everyone 25-45 in my local area is still very much using Facebook.
Also wanted to add that a comics equivalent would be nice if there isn't one already. I doubt many of the longtime artists would migrate fully, but it would at least be another platform that could get them greater reach.
I'm honestly not even sure how to check which I'm running. I'll check dmesg for any error logs though, thanks!
I saw it sort of mentioned, but I think niche shitposting communities like the various okbuddy subs.
Inspiron 14 5140 Touchpad issues
First of all, thank you @Thief@[email protected] for offering to help. You inspired me to go ahead and post an issue that's been bothering me.
I posted about it on Reddit a while back and didn't receive much in the way of assistance. I'm using an Inspiron 14 5410 and dualbooting Debian Bullseye and Windows 11. I recently started experiencing (again) touchpad issues. Initially it happened just after a Windows/BIOS update, then vanished after another one. Now after my most recent Windows update it's returned. On boot my touchpad works fine, but periodically it will stop functioning. I am still fully able to click with my mouse buttons, but unable to move my cursor. '''xinput test 11''' produces nothing unless I click a mouse button while the touchapd isn't working. I'm not accidentally disabling it with a key either, I've checked for that. I'm running nonfree drivers/firmware. I can share output of xinput list and any other logs (with some advice on how to pull them) if necessary.
Closing and reopening my laptop (signing back in) corrects the issue. I'm not sure if Xserver restarts on a suspend/login?
Any nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to any and all who can offer advice.
I was gifted a collection of Call of Cthulhu books a while back and have been really itching to try it out. I think I'll give the short starting adventure a shot in the next couple of weeks. Other than that I really want to get back into CP2020. Red looks fun but I already have the 2020 source books.
