  • I mostly hear 'tin' from women who tend to lisp slightly on the "kwess" and it literally comes out sounding like "kwess-tin." I hear this all the time IRL and on TV. I was hoping to find out if other people notice this or not, but damn, y'all hyper fixated on me writing "tin." Anyway, it has always seemed odd to me since the way I say it does sound closer to kwesh-tin, kwess-chin, or kwess-chun.

  • It's not just an entertaining read, it's a valuable resource to look at to determine if mods in certain communities are over-moderating. Imo for months, mods in many of the largest communities are far overstepping their roles and not just "moderating" their communities but actively censoring opinions they don't like.

  • The Modlog is (or should be, in theory) accessible on any Lemmy/Kbin instance. However, it is on an instance by instance basis whether the Modlog shows full information for each moderator action. Like you said, some instances will only show "mod" but others will provide the names.

To be honest, I haven't been looking at the Fediverse a whole lot lately, so I can't recommend which ones are the best and most transparent. At one point in time, the Lemmy.world Modlog did provide full info but it seems that they have changed that in recent months.

  • On Kbin and Lemmy instances, the link is called "Modlog" at the bottom of the page in browser. I don't use any Fedi apps so I don't know what it looks like there.

You can see all of the deleted comments every day. I recommend everyone to look at the Modlog at least occasionally. You get a real pulse on how each community is moderated and you can make a better informed decision on where you actually want to hang out.

  • I listened to JRE regularly between 2019 until his sellout move from Youtube to Spotify in 2020.

The really sad thing about Joe is that you could tell he had (maybe deep down, still has, maybe?) a more reasonable side to his temperament. Some of his political sensibilities were decidedly liberal, even though he is mostly associated with being batshit insane these days and/or as a puppet mouthpiece of the right.

I guess $200,000,000 can really change a guy.

  • The above poster isn't saying that Trump made up 'fake news,' they are pointing out that the overuse of 'fake news' has become fatiguing to many people. We hear 'fake news' and we don't have a visceral negative reaction to it as we should, it's just something we roll our eyes at now because hearing it over and over again has desensitized us.

Another recent comparable would be the word 'enshittification' which, while apt, already seems like a tired expression that also somehow underscores the severity of the phenomenon it is describing.
