Elon Musk calls for “criminal prosecution” of X ad boycott perpetrators
  • So the argument is that by encouraging its members to stop advertising on Twitter this organization has deprived the market of conservative content and viewpoints which violates both antitrust and first amendment protections. I feel like that's going to be a tough sell considering Elon told advertisers concerned about his takeover of Twitter to go fuck themselves and he didn't need their money.

  • Homeowners associations in Michigan now have to allow rooftop solar
  • But solar panels, especially owned panels, only add to the value of the house. If anything that makes it harder for "the poors" to afford living in the neighborhood. Obviously that's not my rationale for supporting green energy but I say it to illustrate that even their own weird and insular logic should encourage solar adoption.

  • Harris Sharpens Her Attacks on Trump
  • For real. I've been saying that since 2020. What the hell has she been up to? I heard more about Mike Pence during his tenure and I got the feeling he was trying to stay out of the spotlight most of the time.

  • "She’s a woman, she's colored": Ex-Trump official Seb Gorka calls Kamala Harris a "DEI hire"
  • He may be wrong in his motives and his word choice but he's right that the fact that she's black and a woman was just as important as her credentials when she was picked as the VP candidate in 2020. If you don't believe that just go read the post primary articles from that year talking about how Biden needed to pick someone not white as his running mate to pull in minority votes. Obviously this doesn't mean she isn't also qualified but you're kidding yourself if you don't acknowledge the reality that her skin color and gender were both primary factors in her selection. I'm not sure why that's so difficult for people to say out loud.

  • 70%
  • Project 2025 is really only in recent headlines. Those people have at least 8 years of info to work with. If they say they're not aware of how shitty Trump is then they're just as shitty as he is because they're clearly lying to save face.

  • Your position is intentionally vague and you know it. That's why you're refusing to engage beyond generalities. Framing that refusal as evading a logical fallacy I haven't proposed is just your way of avoiding introspection.

  • Wait, not like that
  • This is sound theoretical advice but I don't think most people consider the practical implications of it. Bear spray is only effective out to about 20 feet. A bear can run 30 mph. This means that in order to use that bear spray you need to be close enough for that bear to have its paws on you in less than two seconds. I'm not deluded enough to think I have the balls to stand my ground while a 1200 pound grizzly bear is charging me. I'm reaching for the gun before I reach for the spray which makes it largely useless in practice. I still carry it but it's not particularly reassuring when you put it in context.

  • People can spin any action you choose to fit that definition and by extension deny your right to protest. That's the point. If you don't see that then you're right, there's no reason to continue this conversation.

  • Yes you never said sterile but that's still the kind of protest you're describing. To avoid any further semantic confusion let's try a different approach, why don't you describe what your ideal protest to deal with this tourism issue, or any other issue, looks like? Where does it take place and what kind of action occurs during it?

  • Nazis don't give a shit what people think is acceptable. That comes with the territory. I know you think you're being kind by saying protests need to be sterile and out of the way but all you're really doing is helping rich people keep them ineffective. How's that been going for the last 50 years?

  • Filter by community default language

Can we add the option to exclude communities and/or posts that are in a different language than our chosen default? I'm guessing filtering communities would be easier than individual posts but I'm not sure how language would be flagged. I understand some people may want to see some of these posts but even multilingual people must be bombarded with posts in languages they don't speak. I'm getting pretty annoyed that half of my feed is stuff I can't read.

I've looked through the settings multiple times but I suppose it's still possible this already exists and I just missed it.
