[Advice Request]: managing thermal pads for SMD components in custom PCB

  • Wouldn't that make the components hard to solder with hot air?

    The pcb is quite small and should be easy to heat up even with a cheap hot air gun.

    There are only few components on the top layer. I would try to hand solder them after hot air soldering the bottom layer (or cram all components on one layer in the design).
