I had to post from my alt account because lemmy.world servers are down
  • Thanks, I know how to create a new account on a new server, I just hoped for an easy way to move all my subs.

  • Do you know of a way for those of us only on mobile to move subs over?

  • probably my biggest gripe with Lemmy right now. Feels like I'm just stuck in a loop.
  • OP, like me, probably doesn’t/didn’t know that the website interface for Lemmy has a solution for this and it’s actually an app problem. So to OP it is a “Lemmy” gripe until we’re given more info. :)

  • Timmy, spit out that gum
  • On the very slim chance someone else is curious about the work of art I did an image search :

  • Labor “shortage”
  • I was lucky enough to buy a house this spring, after being even more lucky to live in an apartment for 6 years without a single rent increase. After I left the apartment I checked their re-listing and it is now $200 more than my current mortgage.

  • Why does “come here” bother me so much?
  • Semi-related, my dad taught me if no one was hurt/nothing bad happened to start with that. Like if a friend was in a car accident I start “Everyone is ok, but Michael got rear ended this morning” or “There was minimal damage thankfully, but a tornado went through Jessica’s neighborhood last night”. No point in making someone go through that roller coaster.

  • Do you feel this place has gotten more.. reddit-y lately?
  • Besides, sync was always monetized, and everyone that was asking/begging Dawson to migrate the app knew that. The only people surprised are people that didn't use it to begin with, and aren't going to use it now.

I’m an iPhone user so never had Sync, but even I’m confused about how upset people are. It’s like they’re trying to be offended on behalf of Sync users? Like…Sync users aren’t forced to use it and aren’t forced to pay for it. They choose to because they like the app and appreciate what the dev does. I loved Apollo and while I know Christian isn’t going to make a Lemmy app, if he did I would pay for it/pay for an ad free version because I know he does good work and I like his product.

  • Thanks for your response!! I agree they’re aesthetically better, by a mile! I was just worried about their functional practicality.

  • The official reddit app now has more 1 star reviews than 5 star (edit: on the Play store)
  • Oh god does it not even have adjustable font??

  • What’s the benefit of paver sidewalks? I would think they’d be harder to keep clear of snow, like I know people with brick/paver drives and they’re less easy to shovel. Plus more points to become unsettled/uneven and have edges come up for tripping. I assume there’s positives I’m missing!

  • Incandescent light bulbs are officially banned in the U.S.
  • Yeah that occurred to me like in the middle of the thought process and I just rolled with it. 😅 That apartment kitchen was so dark I turned the lights on a lot.

  • In my old apartment I lived in for 6 years I must have had a faulty kitchen light that did something to the bulbs because I changed LEDs in that like more than once a year, but none of the other lights I changed. Granted I also turned on that light way more than the overhead bedroom light so idk. But I definitely killed quite a few LEDs.

  • Tried out Sync for Lemmy today... I'm back
  • Yes, the free version of the app has ads added to it.

  • It's so nice to see them all growing, but this is just the truth, sorry.
  • Apollo also had years of refinement. Memmy could be just as refined, but it takes time.

  • Letters from the lawyers: Musk threatens CCDH with brazen attempt to silence honest criticism. — Center for Countering Digital Hate | CCDH
  • Didn’t he refuse to pay Twitter lawyers that worked for Twitter to force Musk’s hand to buy Twitter? I imagine at this point his lawyer options are pretty slim based on his earned reputation.

  • Reddit is now randomly refusing to show posts without login. In iOS, it’ll redirect me to App Store
  • Not sure if you’re serious or I’m wooshing, but yep. Some people apparently partly stand (not like all the way up afaik) to wipe.

  • It seems like many of the “all desktop people” don’t know the “all mobile people” exist, and many of the all mobile people don’t know the desktop people exist. I’ve seen some discussions in PC-centric communities shocked to hear how few people even have a laptop let alone a full PC anymore. It’s like the sitting vs standing wiping people used to not know each other existed before the internet blew up about it.

  • It also means people trying to share posts with friends will have trouble. If someone sends me a link that insists I open in app I’ll either ask the sender to just screenshot it or pretend I looked.

  • It's like that Mike Rowe idiot, he's literally just an actor so he's never worked any of those "dirty jobs" unless it was for entertainment purposes, but his condemnation for younger people who don't want to do slave labor anymore and have a better life is both hilarious and frustrating.

Oh no I missed this. Mike Rowe is an asshole? :( I used to watch Dirty Jobs all the time as a kid.
