Do you poweroff your server during night / unused times?
  • Everything runs 24/7, but now I am thinking about theoretical power saving modes. Besides any built in power saving whatever (a little clueless), you could always throttle the CPU more. Not sure if it would be worth it without testing with a power meter.

  • Z-Library admins on the lam ahead of US extradition; officials shocked
  • We had a student run server for piracy at my University to get copied textbooks from, but even then we had to sometimes look elsewhere. I often couldn't afford books and not all professors allowed the cheaper used previous editions.

Science textbooks were the worst with their stupid fucking online code bullshit so we could do homework. They even made it where you could buy just the code, which was something like $70. Still better than 300+, but JFC. Having to spend over $1000 for books that you are only going to use for 10 weeks was nuts.

The last saving grace we had is all textbooks were required to have at least one copy in the library that could not be checked out/removed. You could photocopy the homework pages that way. If your classmates were nice, they would let you borrow theirs to copy any pages too. You could also buy your textbook, copy what you needed, and return it within the return window.

  • How to deal with post-work exhaustion?
  • Based on some of your other comments, it would be interesting if you logged your blood pressure and pulse throughout the day. Once in the morning, before/after meals, evening, and whatever times seem like they may be relevant.

I got a simple automatic cuff type from the grocery store. They make some that can do it on your wrist too, which is a little easier to carry around. Mine has a history function. Smart watches/trackers can monitor your pulse more often.

Check your blood work. I get all the details in MyChart (Epic) and can even compare from previous results. If there isn't an app, get your records and input it manually in a spreadsheet or other app that hopefully doesn't harvest your data. If they are not doing regular blood work a couple times a year, they are doing you a disservice.

How is your sleep? You may not be sleeping as well as you think. This is priority 1. Wash your sheets. Clean sheets are awesome.

You could be depressed or have an undiagnosed mental illness. This is ok, but you have to talk to someone. It is hard as hell to make that phone call, but your mental health is worth it. Your mental health is worth everything. I did not check if you were female, but note that birth control can cause this shit. Hormones suck.

I think you said you were in pain or discomfort? If you are, take notes on the type of pain, where, how often, duration and anything you were doing. By the time I get to the doctor, I often can't visualize or remember the exact sensation. You could easily have something in your environment bothering you, a food allergy, gall bladder issues, thyroid, or a whole host of random shit. Switch to fragrance free laundry detergent. Maybe cut out caffeine. Just be sure to only change one thing at a time.

Don't let doctors gaslight you or downplay your issues. Advocate for yourself and take notes. You can even have a friend go with you to the doctor if you have a lot of anxiety. They can take notes for you and potentially give insights and ask questions you may not think of.

  • Trying not to read too far into your comment, but this may be relevant or at least useful information.

Beware of "bumping" the cervix too hard. If she gets cramps or pain afterwards, find a different position. If you don't know, ask. Also check if the cervix is retroverted (tipped), which brings the strings a lot closer to the vaginal opening and can also explain why you may need a different position. I had to have my strings shortened due to this. You can also request to have your strings shortened later if they are causing problems.

  • The little eye is where the string goes. The wings are down during insertion and then released inside the uterus. The only part a phallus should ever touch is the string. There are also a variety of IUDs now and none of them look like the solid metal monstrosity in the picture. They are mostly plastic.

Edit: I guess I should mention as someone who has one that they are not exactly fun to get inserted. Most doctors don't numb you or give you anything to soften the cervix. Take some ibuprofen and suck it up. However, I would never go back to other forms of birth control. No periods. No remembering to take a pill. No crying in the fetal position in a pool of blood and pain. No more hormone induced mania. The list goes on...

  • What did your parents refrigerate? Mine refrigerated bread.
  • I have to peel it all anyways. The skin on most fruit is like daggers going into my sensitive teeth. Always been that way. Plums are the worst and I gave up. Apples are everywhere in Upstate NY, so that is what I usually get.

Do you eat berries? Those I have to put in the fridge or they go bad fast. I try and get local, which last longer, but I swear raspberries go bad the moment you bring them home.

  • What did your parents refrigerate? Mine refrigerated bread.
  • I put my bread in the microwave as I never use it. I might as well call my microwave a bread box. However, if it gets really humid I may put the bread in the fridge for a day or two.

I love cold condiments and fruit. My dad put Pepto Bismol and eye drops in the fridge.

  • BG3 player, is this relatable?
  • It is really frustrating because the spoiler tags are kind of client dependent I think. I just use the spoiler tag formatting button in Sync, but I know there is some fuckery where it doesn't work everywhere, or another client uses a different tag.

  • Props to Alpine and Kali for disabling this bullshit out of the box
  • I had to change mine to mac address naming on my proxmox server after the second time the name changed due to a GPU or SSD being added. It was kind of like, so what, if an SSD dies suddenly or I have some issue with a device you are going to rename my fucking nic card again while I am trying to troubleshoot? Absolutely deranged.

  • BG3 player, is this relatable?
  • I did my first playthrough as Karlach and romanced Gale for shiggles. After he abandoned her at the end. >!You know. Her last night alive before burning to death.!< Yeah. You can bet I left his ass in the portal the next time.
