Unfortunately, those players make so much money that it moves them into the big club that we ain't in. Not a lot of class/race solidarity there, from what I've seen...just solidarity with whatever gets them paid.
Which I guess makes sense. The sport itself is extremely predatory, preying on young, very poor (usually) black men, offering them the promise of wealth they wouldn't normally have access to—if they just sell their bodies and physical health to the wealthier white men who own them. So they work their asses off all through high school and college to hopefully have the chance at the NFL; joining the league literally becomes the culmination of their life's work.
Not many want to actually rock that boat.
Same here
If that's all that happens, I'm not sure how I'll feel about him going forward. Isn't he meant to be the thinking man's rapper? Kind of an educated leftist type? For him to accept a Superbowl halftime show and not be planning ANYTHING would make so much of his work and messaging become hollow to me.
On the other hand, idk what he would even do besides saying 'fuck Trump'. That would be the weakest, most watered down shit, but you're 100% right, that's the state of things.
Interested to see if Kendrick is gonna have ANYTHING to say about the state of things at his performance at the halftime show.
I get mine in bulk at Costco so I never run out
If anyone is looking for something specific to preserve, consider Our Bodies, Ourselves. It's a seminal feminist work that seeks to educate women on their bodies. It's extremely comprehensive, thicker than most textbooks.
Being elected didn't give blanket permission to destroy the state itself.
Hint: reddit is also full of misogynists, kinda what it's known for. People discussing the toxicity of women centered subs tend to fall into that category.
I have for years and haven't seen any of the toxicity you're talking about, except towards men showing up being right cunts. I'm guessing that's how you encountered it, too.
What are you talking about? I'm not defending Trump, or using whataboutism? I'm trying to explain the history of consistent oppression of native peoples. It's unfortunately as old as white people coming here in the first place; Trump is just the latest flavor of awful. This country is literally founded on genocide, and just about every president has partaken.
I live in Oklahoma, my spouse is a tribal member, as is my child. I'm extremely close to the issue and try to make myself as educated on the topic as I can. I also try to educate others, since a lot of people genuinely don't know how far back this shit goes, as our education system deliberately leaves it out. That's what I was trying to do here.
Not sure you can call half the population a 'community' but OK. Women come from all walks of life and ideologies as I'm sure you'll have to imagine.
Also, even in the majority of women-centric spaces in the internet, men are still allowed s long as they aren't assholes. The only purpose would be to make a specific spot where women can post without fear of being harassed.
Echo chambers of...gender equality?
Is this related to the doomsday iceberg that recently broke free? Basically the giant cork holding back the entire ice sheet?
This goes beyond one president, literally back to the founding of the country. It's not just some grudge held by this particular president. Even Obama has done some heinous shit to natives in regards to their land and rights.
The reservations have always been a set off moving goal posts that have been granted, moved around, and revoked—regardless of how 'good' or 'not good' the land is. The US government (read: capitalism, bc that's what it's always been) wants ALL the land.
I remember how weird it was getting in the Elden Ring community after the Miquella teaser image was released, but before we had any other info at all, and that was only a gap of about a year, I think lmao. I can't imagine what Silksong forums look like
To the downvoters of this post: 🤏
Okay, I'll try it like this. The next thing I was going to try was sticking them in a box, individually packed in newspaper. I think straw is what was used in ye olden times, but newspaper would be easier to source these days
Mine are stored in their bag, too, but seem to go mushy after two weeks, so I have been looking for other solutions. Is there anything in particular you're doing when storing them in their bag?
For real, I'm not sure exactly what idea is drawing OP to the US so much, but many many of us (especially after the election) can only dream of being born a citizen of the EU.
Reading their post, I just kept thinking "I feel like that, but for your country." Maybe we can organize some kind of citizenship swap lol
My son is due in a month or so, and I just finished the hat he'll wear home from the hospital!

The pattern is this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-bear-hat-8
I made some adjustments, like starting with 8 rows of ribbing, then doing two kfb increases in row 9, before doing the rest of the pattern as described. I also picked up 10 stitches instead of 8 for the the ears, because of personal preference.
I was able to finish it in one evening, and I'm thinking of making another for his cousin that will be born just two months after him :)
