I can now control external display brightness from KDE and I don't know why. Thank you, nameless Linux contributor
  • I noticed this as well a few months ago and it did change the monitor brightness for real, but now it broke on my system and wont do it anymore

  • "I would like to switch to Linux, but it's just not good for gaming"
  • Genshin does work in linux since a few months ago from what i heard

  • And thus my subtitle requirement was born
  • Secret i learned on my raspberry pi running stereo speakers on Kodi is you can set a seperate volume for the dialogue channel so i just bumped it up like 14 decibels and now it matches the action fairly well. You can set it from the audio settings inside the movie and its called something like center channel downmix i cant remember exactly

  • YouTube is now fully blocking ad blockers around the world
  • Theres also NewPipe its free and open source

  • Is your entire system crashing?, for me i have to do a hard reboot once it happens. if it gets too bad i can always play the game in a windows VM as im playing with a friend and crashing all the time would be annoying

  • Linux 6.6 To Better Protect Against The Illicit Behavior Of NVIDIA's Proprietary Driver
  • My rx 480 worked way better in terms of not crashing, it did have graphical glitches in games but i guessed thats down to using Wine. Im also using Arch so maybe that in combination with the 6650 is making it more unstable, i gotta revert to using LTS kernel every few months to stop my system crashing randomly

  • I had an rx480 that worked fantasic until a firmware update made it start freezing my pc in games after suspend, solution was to rollback that package to an older one or never use suspend. I currently have a 6650xt and that just crashes whenever it wants to sometimes, works fine for a few months then decides to freeze my whole pc, playing bg3 atm it froze on me like 3 times already

  • AMD has been taking so many W's, they're just giving them away
  • Ive only ever used amd gpus and intel cpu, and the only hardware issue ive had is one gigabyte card having a firmware bug that killed it. amd always worked great on windows for me, but on linux they suffer from crashing quite often.

  • Flatpak integration is still not great
  • I run flatpak firefox and kde wayland and have no such issue

  • [RANT] I pay $70/mo for this privilege
  • Wish i had 15 up, im getting 40 down 3 up. They started putting fiber down my street but not active yet, cant wait to go to 1 gig

  • Anon uses arch btw
  • Im sure that arch would probably cause more issues than mint in the long run, i was just saying Mint or any other beginner distros are not exactly 100% issue free as some would claim them to be

  • Anon uses arch btw
  • Not the guy you replied to but i put Mint on my uncles pc, tried to install some software and it just gave me some errors, tried fixing it for about 40 mins and gave up and just put windows on it. I had an Kubuntu install that just randomly killed itself after a few months as well. It worked fine for a while, then i restarted one day and wouldn't boot giving some drive error, and i ended up moving to arch after that. Arch has been working very well for me and it has had issues but i could always solve them quite easily.

At the end of the day all linux distros are essentially running the same software, the only difference is the version of software you're running, some update faster some slower.

The Dear Hunter - The Lake And The River [Prog Rock]

Not metal but these guys introduced me to between the buried and me which led me down the progmetal pipeline. This song is probably one of their proggiest songs id say. They also have done a btbam cover and btbam did a cover of their song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_p06LEnSfg

Dawn of Ouroboros - Velvet Moon

Was looking for something to post here, found this album on spotify. their sound reminds me of An Abstract Illusion a bit, not bad on a first listen. This song in particular kinda sounds to me like the ending of Selkies from BTBAM

    Cyborg Octopus - The Projector

Just found these guys randomly on bandcamp and giving this album a listen, its pretty good so far

Edit: after finishing it, its got some good parts but its also a bit weird, maybe on a relisten it will grab me more

The World Is Quiet Here - The Benign Author: Architect

    5

    Avenged Sevenfold - G

Any love for the new Avenged Sevenfold album?, listened to it about twice fully. Its a bit disjointed feeling at times, but im really digging this song in particular, also Ordinary is great

    9

Artificial Language - The Wild Haunt

Just listened to this album, pretty good stuff, although on a first listen it felt like they repeat ideas alot. Something reminded me of Caligulas Horse in some of the songs.

    Ok Goodnight - "The Snake"

Not bad, i thought their last 2 albums were alright, but didnt really get into them. new song from their last album that came out about a week ago

Just gonna post some of my favourites, hopefully some other people join in

The Dear Hunter - Is There Anybody Here?[Progressive Rock]

Beautiful melodies and orchestration. The Dear Hunter tells a 5 album story from start to finish. If you like music with a story check them out, they have a ton of repeated motifs across the 5 acts which reward relistens and connect into the storyline. You can look up the story online if you wanna know whats going on.

The Venetia Fair - The Dirt Wont Keep Your Secrets [post hardcore][alternative rock]

Great band, one of my favourite vocalists. This entire album is really nice
