NiGHTS and I go wayyyy back.

The original NiGHTS into Dreams debuted on the Sega Saturn 28 years ago today. If you haven't played it yet, go get the Steam version for free while supplies last. These games show how 2D platform game mechanics can still feel really good with a character that flies everywhere in a 3D world. NiGHTS doesn't even have animations for standing or walking, in the first game at least.

This promo art was used for the sequel's soundtrack, posters, and wallpaper. The soundtrack credits its artwork to "NiGHTS Development Team" which isn't very useful. Kazuyuki Hoshino is the game's art director and lead character designer, so maybe credit him?

Cool! Thanks for the Floating Is Fun shout out! I wish that CSS would federate to other instances, even if it's just a header image like Lemmy communities get. You Lemmy users can still use interfaces like Photon and Voyager, and it looks great on those.

Hello, all you Miku fans out there! I'm Hitstun and I'm easily distracted by floaty things. In all my searching, Hatsune Miku keeps showing up again and again because artists draw her floating and flying in every way imaginable. I might as well share the love here too.

We caught Miku goofing off with balloons again. Even Niconico going down for a month won't keep this from getting out. It's undeniably fun, though.

This community's @[email protected] posts new daily threads at 2300 GMT, or 8pm EDT. New Zealand actually gets new puzzles 7 hours earlier than that, but has to wait until about sunrise to talk about it here. Reddit /r/Wordle's bot posts its daily threads at 0900 GMT, or 6am EDT, to accommodate New Zealand and the rest of the Eastern Hemisphere.

OK, so I've gotten lazy and this is only my second post in six days. I'm trying for quality over quantity here, and it took me a while to figure this one out. But here we go...

This is an illustration for a song by Yuno about swirling your hand around in a puddle and watching everything loop around in circles. It's therapeutic. Vocals are done with a Vocaloid voice named Yukari Yuzuki but...this girl is not Yukari Yuzuki. She's an original character, I guess.

My starting word betrayed me today. Those yellows made it really difficult to find legal words to play, and it took forever, even if my guesses were nearly perfect according to Scoredle.

Sub.rehab can show you subreddits that have verified official communities on Lemmy, Mbin, and others. You can import your followed subreddits from Reddit and find their Fediverse counterparts quickly. It's the best place I've found for Reddit users to find communities to follow here, even if a lot of them aren't very active and their Reddit versions are still active too.

I think Lemmy and Mbin's interfaces scare some people off. A lot of users don't know that Lemmy has plenty of other third-party interfaces like Photon, Alexandrite, Voyager, and of course, Old.

Mbin lacks these for now, but makes up for it with the rarely-used custom CSS for magazines, just like Old Reddit, and custom JS too! I use mine to create a two-column layout with big thumbnails! Unfortunately, the CSS doesn't federate and is only visible when viewing it on Fedia itself. I'd love to have even a Lemmy-like banner image on other instances.

For the daily word puzzle Wordle, [email protected] and /r/Wordle both benefit from having a bot post a discussion thread for each day's puzzle as it's released. I go there every day and post how I did on the day's puzzle. I still post and moderate on the Reddit one every once in a while, but I tell them about the Lemmy one while I'm there. The recently-created [email protected] does this for several daily puzzle games, but I'm not sure if it's a stronger community or just more cluttered.

Of course, we could remind Reddit users that the Fediverse doesn't have ads! That was a huge selling point for me.

And when a Reddit community decides to go all-in and move here, they could consider a full screen redirect link like Old Reddit /r/Mei. I thought about using that redirect myself on my old subreddit.

This art was posted 16 years ago, but the Valley of the Witches just became official this year as section of Ghibli Park. I thought this Kiki/Nausicaä mashup was pretty practical. A tiny witch on a broom with a bazooka would be a great air defender and difficult to shoot down. Hopefully Kiki's carrying some flares to deal with any heat-seeking missiles that come her way.

/r/Columbus too. We tried with [email protected] and a few others, but they all died out after a few months.

To be real, the regulars at [email protected] are completely different from the regulars I had at /r/FloatingIsFun. I couldn't get most of them to follow me to the Fediverse, and the community I built on the Fediverse mostly benefited from the added exposure of a Lemmy bug that pinned all Kbin posts to the top of /new for two hours.
