Whats the difference between sorting by Hot and Top?
  • From the docs:

When browsing the frontpage or a community, you can choose between the following sort types for posts:

Active (default): Calculates a rank based on the score and time of the latest comment, with decay over time.

Hot: Like active, but uses time when the post was published.

New: Shows most recent posts first.

Old: Shows oldest posts first. Most Comments: Shows posts with highest number of comments first. New Comments: Bumps posts to the top when they receive a new reply analogous to the sorting of traditional forums.

Top Day: Highest scoring posts during the last 24 hours.

Top Week: Highest scoring posts during the last 7 days.

Top Month: Highest scoring posts during the last 30 days.

Top Year: Highest scoring posts during the last 12 months.

Top All Time: Highest scoring posts during all time.

  • Questions regarding installation

Hey guys, I have 2 questions:

    1. Is it possible to install while having secure boot enabled?
    2. Is it possible to install (including the boot loader thing) on a specified drive? I want to be able to "dual boot" manually via BIOS setting of the startup drive, so I don't have to mess up windows 11 installation on it's drive and don't want to have to fix mbr or whatever it's called right now.

  • Thanks for taking the effort, mate!

  • Its pretty powerful seeing Emily's videos
  • Good for her for being brave and coming out like this! I really loved her videos, basically the only one keeping me subscribed to that click bait of a channel.

  • Server Updated to 0.18
  • Can't upload an avatar image (see my post for exact error message)

  • Getting an error when trying to upload an avatar

SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data

This is the error I'm getting in a red banner when trying to upload an avatar (512x512px, 39kb jpeg file). Was able to upload the same image to lemmy.world (which currently uses BE 0.17.4) without any errors.

I don't understand why people still want to use reddit instead of moving to Lemmy or Kbin
  • I fully moved to lemmy myself, but still browse reddit just for the vast amount of information available there.
