Meta: What would you have done?
  • I'll preface all this by saying that the person who left the messages in the image on this post was out of line. Nobody should treat anybody else like that.

    That said, I do think there's something we could learn from this situation.

    I just joined and when I arrive the rules were already posted and very clear IMO.

    Not having the context of the rules, I could see how someone might be surprised by the behavior of this site if they were expecting it to work the same way reddit does. I could be wrong, but I believe the way reddit works is that while it has NSFW content, that content doesn't show up in the main feed. If I understand how reddthat works, The user has to choose whether or not to see NSFW in the main feed.

    When I signed up for my account, it was not clear to me whether that NSFW checkbox does. If it is unchecked, is all NSFW content hidden from me no matter how I try to access it, or is it just not added to the main feed that I see. Honestly, I still don't really know what the checkbox does.

    I think the mods and admins are doing a fantastic job here. Thanks for setting up the site and for the transparency. It's fantastic.
