Genetic tester 23andMe’s hacked data on Jewish users offered for sale online
  • My partner is Jewish and used the service to learn more about her ancestry. This sucks.

Is it just me or does it seem it’s a really bad idea to buy into any product that involves accumulating PII? I’m old enough to have noticed that in nearly every instance that data is either misused, stolen, or used as intended for a really shitty purpose.

  • Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is indicted on federal gun charges
  • Questionable people make great politicians. That’s sorta a problem, though, isn’t it? Maybe we should try letting people who aren’t so questionable have a shot instead of strategizing about how to keep shitty people in positions of power because it serves partisan goals? I know… crazy thinking, right?

  • Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is indicted on federal gun charges
  • It was a problem because Clinton should not be having sex with his subordinates. That’s a clear abuse of his power. It doesn’t matter if Lewinsky was perfectly fine with it. It’s no different than why a college student isn’t supposed to have sex with their professors.

And yes I have the full story. I was alive and an adult at the time.

It should’ve been made public. We have a right to know our tax dollars are being spent to allow him to get his dick wet. If Clinton had been involved with someone that wasn’t a government employee I wouldn’t care. But that’s not the facts of the situation.

The best way to not give conservatives ammunition is to not fuck your direct reports. See? That’s really easy!

  • Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is indicted on federal gun charges
  • The way Biden is acting about it he might let his son sit in prison to teach him a lesson. If Hunter was my son I’d definitely let him enjoy his time out if he lost his case. Some lessons need to be learned the hard way… especially for the over privileged.

  • Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is indicted on federal gun charges
  • To be fair, fucking your intern is an abuse of power even if the intern is into that shit. Yes, Clinton probably wasn’t the first or the last but that doesn’t make it ok.

I say that as someone with a partner that fucks one of their managers. I still say that’s an ethical fail. But she ain’t my primary partner so her ethical failings aren’t really my concern. Just excellent gossip.

  • Hunter Biden, the son of the president, is indicted on federal gun charges
  • This is true. But we didn’t vote for Hunter. He performs no official duties. And he’s a bit too busy with his various legal entanglements to perform any unofficial duties AFAIK. If anything, seeing Biden have to deal with this makes me feel more sympathetic to the man. He lost one kid to the military and appears to be losing another to debauchery.

If the rest of the voters start feeling that then Biden will get re-elected. That assumes anyone will even care about this subject beyond the sensational nature of it all.

  • Return-to-office policies are driving people to sell their homes - even at a loss
  • I’m pretty sure I’d stay put and not move back. Let’s be honest. An employer can and will terminate you for practically any reason or no reason at all. Selling a house you bought in a place you want to live in hopes of maintaining a toxic relationship that will end on a whim (your job) barely makes sense from an economic perspective and makes no sense from any other.

To put it in perspective… if you had an emotionally abusive boyfriend who insisted you had to sell your house and move in with him, would you do it? If you relied on him for half your income, would you do it? If the answer to those questions are “yes” then you’re gonna love selling your house because of RTO. If you have any self respect, the very notion of this would make you dust off your resume and resignation letter.

  • Cornel West for President announces the hiring of political activist, author, and adviser Peter Daou as Campaign Manager
  • As much as I enjoy West’s work I’m not willing to give him the codes to the nukes. I fear that if the time came he wouldn’t irradiate whoever needs irradiating. I’m also not sure if he can deal with all bs that comes with trying to persuade the other branches of government to fulfill their duties. Tbf i don’t know if anyone can do that anymore… but I’m pretty sure he can’t since he’s not part of their little club of Neoliberals.

Maybe if we have a Socialist or Anarchist coup? And that’s still a big maybe.

  • Farm12 in Puyallup, WA is how anti-abortionists make money in Washington state

Farm 12 is a front for Step by Step, a pregnancy center in Puyallup that discourages abortion and uses dirty tricks against women seeking them. It's one of the ways the organization generates money to use in its ongoing efforts to disenfranchise and dis-empower women in the State of Washington.

    https://www.stepbystepfamily.org/

    https://www.farm12.org/aboutus

If you ask the staff their directly if Step by Step - which is located on the same property - is one of those sham service providers meant to misinform women about their fertility needs and pregnancy options, they will lie to your face about it. My primary partner and I used to frequent this restaurant and asked many times since they make a big deal out of the money they funnel to Step by Step. Each time we were meant with ardent denials. It wasn't until we found the article from the Seattle Times that we found out the truth.

If you eat there, you are giving money to the kinds of people that firebomb Planned Parenthoods and murder doctors that perform abortions. If you eat there, you are giving money to the folks that are actively trying to make A Handmaiden's Tale a reality. Boycott them. Protest in front of the place on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But don't give them a dime. Anyone that has no respect for a woman's right to choose does not deserve our money.

‘That ’70s Show' actor Danny Masterson gets 30 years to life in prison for rapes of 2 women
  • Yeah let’s make sure we don’t send the wrong message to psychopaths by sending them to jail for fear they will escalate their wrongdoings. Maybe we could just ask them pretty please to stop raping people. Or maybe just not worry about rape at all. /s

  • ‘That ’70s Show' actor Danny Masterson gets 30 years to life in prison for rapes of 2 women
  • Rape is about power. Rapists aren’t interested in anyone who wants to give it to them consensually. They want to feel that they are really hurting someone, really destroying their humanity. If it doesn’t demean and permanently fuck up their victim then they want no part in it.

  • Willis asks court to protect jurors after doxing in Trump's Georgia case
  • I doubt anyone can actually force Trump to go to prison at any level. He’s a flight risk, for one. He has an angry gun toting mob at his disposal. And, if he wins the presidency again, he will use federal agents to remove himself from any prison and prevent his capture.

It will take huge balls to actually deal with Trump. And America is a land of geldings wearing prosthetic testicles.

  • Driverless Taxis Blocked Ambulance in Fatal Accident, San Francisco Fire Dept. Says
  • Our suburbs are basically massive housing centers. Most aren’t livable without some form of personal transport or excellent public transportation. We’re not going to get even mediocre public transportation in the US. The only personal transport we’ve made effective are cars.

We could fix that if we were willing to make serious, government mandated lifestyle changes AND were willing to restructure our housing centers. But since our nation is fully coin operated and change would work to the detriment of our established robber baron led businesses, there’s no incentive to do anything else (at least none those folks are willing to recognize). So if you don’t live inside an actual major city then you don’t have realistic options that aren’t a car of some kind. Unless, that is, you’re interested in biking your two kids 3 miles to school then riding that same bike an hour to work.

On the bright side, if we did that we’d all stop being so obese. Or a lot of us would die from heart attacks. I guess that means we’d solve some other problems as a result. Ok I’m all for it 😁

  • Are US politicians too old? Voters weigh in
  • People don’t want change. They want stability and to not starve. If those two qualifiers are met then voters don’t really care what the government does and they’re not inclined to vote incumbents out.

  • Are US politicians too old? Voters weigh in
  • If you let people opposed to your ideology vote, they will inevitably vote against your interests. Disenfranchisement is the only real option available to producing meaningful political change that doesn’t involve violence. It’s the same strategy used against the rest of us by conservatives and neoliberals. We’re stupid for not using it against them.

  • Are US politicians too old? Voters weigh in
  • The gerontocracy runs the political parties. The party determines the candidates. You will rarely see a candidate on your ballot that wasn’t approved by them. And they will only approve of other old people and those that agree with their policies… which are inherently conservative in nature.
