I'm someone who sticks to skill-based hobbies for months / years.
What keeps me interested in a given hobby for a long period of time is the dopamine hit of the reward at the end, and once I achieve one thing I want to move on to the next.
In a sense, my interests within a hobby change frequently depending on my achievements, but I also know that the kind of achievements available get "better" with time: You can't beat the final boss if you don't beat the first boss !
religion is nonsense that badly tries to answer that question
I agree with the post otherwise, but "badly" implies that there is a "good" way to answer that question, which I don't think there is.
it's impossible to answer life's questions, such as "what is the meaning of the universe?" or "who created everything?", so all answers are equally valid. Religion is based on belief and it comes down to which belief (or disbelief) you subscribe to.
For someone who believes in one religion, other definitions of God or atheism may be the thing that feels like "nonsense", and nobody can prove anyone's wrong.
Enjoy the fediverse !
Checking in at 2 weeks without Reddit, and I'm so happy that this forcing function got me to discover Lemmy and the fediverse. I enjoy it so much more, I'm browsing multiple instances and it feels like the days I discovered Reddit.
As for apps, just FYI Lemmy and KBin are progressive web apps so you can click "add to home screen" and get an app for free, I've been using it that way exclusively so far and it works well enough for me.
Duke Nukem 3D 20th anniversary remaster.
The levels are well designed, I hadn't noticed before how interconnected the areas in a given map are. On some maps, the end is visible from the spawn point.
The occasional puzzles and jump quests are fun, but the best part is the total carnage you cause along the way. Thoroughly played the freeware version decades ago so there's an element of nostalgia for me, it's been fun to dive into the full game after all these years through the remaster.
It's not the first time that a game is a freebie for a second time. You can see the history of free games here: https://www.pcgamer.com/epic-games-store-free-games-list/
The Hunter: Call of the Wild was also free previously, around December 2021.
It's also not the first time that a free game is "given away", but usually it means that it's some in-game purchase / DLC that is free. I think that's the case with Idle Champions as well but I haven't played it to confirm !
