Sailing boat rescued by the Götheborg

lemmy.world Sailing boat rescued by the Götheborg | Götheborg of Sweden - Lemmy.world

I want to crew the Götheborg. >Imagine losing your rudder out at sea and sending out a distress call. And then the largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship in the world comes to your rescue. Or in the words of the sailors on the sailing boat: “This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were ...

Tough waking up to this

Forecast had it miserably hot, but turned out to be decent. Way nicer than I was expecting.

O'Day 23-2 rafted up to a 32' Benateu, and another O'Day (272LE).

Life360 integration down?

I'm not home ATM, but it seems the Life360 integration is not working. I tried rebooting HA but no joy.

Just wondering if it's me or more wide spread

FCC Leagues Cup vs. Guadalajara

This about sums up the second half.

Fantastic start by the home team and great first half overall, but then all hell broke loose in the sky. We bailed about an hour after the stoppage started.

My first turbo car
  • Well, mine was a lot newer when I owned it. When I bought this one it had 30k miles on it. It was completely stock with a worn out suspension. I actually stumbled on it while visiting a friend. Made a lowish ball offer which was rejected so I bailed and went home when our trip was over. Got a call about a week later accepting my offer.

I had a ton of fun in this and my previous '92 Talon AWD. Going to the DSM shootouts, one year we got a tour of the DSM plant in Normal, IL... Good times!

And back then, this car was an absolute beast on the street. Embarrassed a lot of people :)

The car above ran the license plate "V8EATR" for a while and gained a pretty decent reputation locally.

  • My first turbo car
  • My baby from the late 90's it was my second DSM (1994 Talon AWD, decently modded stock motor build) ran mid 12's in the 1/4 in full street trim, which was pretty fast back then :)

  • FCC Leagues Cup vs. Kansas City

    What a wild game...

Not great reffing, and a weather delay. I really didn't think we'd pull this one out. It was hot as hell waiting outside the bailey for the lightning delay.

Fantastic ending, Acosta deserved MVP tonight.

Google raising price of YouTube Premium to $13.99 per month
  • I do, and YouTube is my primary Media consumption for both video and music.

That said, I have the family plan which went from $15-23 back a few months ago and it was difficult to keep. I actually cancelled it and used Spotify and some of the available ad-blocking apps, but ultimately didn't like Spotify, so I came back.

If it were to go up again anytime remotely soon I'd be gone.

  • I miss when Taco Bell was good.
  • Taco Bell was one of my favorite fast food restaurants, but it's perpetual downward spiral to put as little content in their meals drove me away. Can't tell you when the last time I was there.

I was usually charged extra for the non shredded chicken for my tacos, and ALWAYS disappointed in how much I got. I didn't want a 97% lettuce, 2.5% meat, and .5% cheese taco.

Not like I ate it all the time, but I'm probably better off without it.

  • How do you strengthen your ankles?
  • If you haven't sprained/hurt them and they're sore, that sounds like they're not happy about something. Overuse, or some gear issue (shoe), but generally inflamed.

But, to just answer your question, run on trails not the road and you'll strengthen all the lower leg muscles connected to your foot/ankle. Just remember to pick up your feet more than street running, or your gonna fall!

P.S. you're still probably going to fall :)

    FCC win late in NY
  • While I watched live I hate spoler titles in sports /motorsports communities/subs/magazines

But on topic, not how I thought it was gonna end 3/4 of the way through... So happy about that!

  • Finally starting my ASA 101 course
  • Sounds fun! While I grew up with my dad owning a sailboat (2 different ones 22 and 25') my wife had no idea how to sail.

We took a week long liveaboard ASA (101,103,104). While she definitely learned a lot, it was on a 43' boat. Even though I can sail it was weird not having the immediate feel of the wind like I always had on smaller boats.

But it was a fantastic week, and we were mentally ready to sell everything and move onto a sailboat :)

  • Nearly all of Evernote’s remaining staff has been laid off
  • Had an account since about 2010, looks like I stopped using it around 2016. Just logged in to see what if anything was left. A few notes, nothing important.

Tried closing my account instead of just leaving it hanging out there and it fails. Guess I'll try later

  • Thoughts on garmin watches?
  • For normal non city running any of them should be fine. The more expensive ones will reach more satellites by supporting other non US systems like GLONASS, and GALILEO increasing accuracy by using more satellites.

I generally use just gps on my Fenix 6x Pro. Unless I'm running in thick trails where the extra satellites might help.

DC rainmaker definitely has a lot of in depth info on accuracy.

I've had a 910xt, 920xt, Fenix 3HR, Fenix 5x, and now The 6x pro. Running very similar courses for my daily runs and they all report mostly the same. I overlayed a few old tracks compared to new ones and they're all close.

  • Is it just me or did anyone else became a more avid poster since joining lemmy?
  • I'm trying to support the change. I joined 6/11, I stopped visiting the other site the same time.

I created a community that didn't exist yet here (in the fediverse) and am trying to post /comment more then I would normally. I wasn't a lurker over there but I am more engaged here.

Long live the new(ish) fediverse :)

Edit: I also removed my content and deleted my 12yo account on 7/1

What did you do to your RS today?

Just a first post with some content. I was doing a bit of troubleshooting. I swapped back to my stock HPFP(high pressure fuel pump) and fuel Injectors to prove or disprove that all my other parts were working ok. Been struggling with drivability issues with an upgraded XDI HPFP and Injectors setup and a 93 octane tune. (cold start issues, idle surge, too much burbling, and creating lots of soot).

I actually spoke with XDI today, which I probably should have done before swapping back, and it sounds like it's not completely uncommon to have some "too much fuel" issues when running pump gas with this setup. Ultimately I want to run E85 anyway, but wanted to make sure the issues were not related to some other hardware issue vs the pump/injectors. Car is running flawless on the stock HPFP/Injectors.

I wanted to get the 93 tune dialed before switching to E85, but after talking to XDI it sounds like E85 might solve my issues by requiring ~30% more fuel. As I understand it, with pump gas the injectors can't open/close fast enough (pulse width) to keep the fueling right, and still be in spec.

Not the best wind, but it was sailing none the less. Sailed about 10 miles averaging 4kts

We had 6 boats for the raft-up/hangout, then 4 off us stayed overnight. The next morning I cooked my breakfast for the first time after finding a "period correct" alcohol stove over the winter!

After I cleaned everything up, I detached from the raft-up, and did some poleless/preventerless wing on wing (which is far too much work!) down to the main section of the lake where it was wider, then sailed down and back getting about 12 miles in for the day!

444 miles on my last running shoes!!

I have never gotten 400 miles out of a shoe. I'm 190lb runner and have gotten as low as around 200 miles and looking back through my Garmin retired shoes managed 370 once. At any rate, shout out to these Brooks Ghost 13's :)

Normally something (knees) let me know it's time to switch. These I retired due to running out of sole! At any rate, 95 activities, and 444 miles is a record for me!
