New Covid wave has begun and masks should be worn again, scientists warn
  • It's very strange to me. I live in Sweden, we barely shut things down, no masks etc things went about as well as other places that did do masms and we're now looking like we're doing better in some respects (e.g. education)

We fucked up at the start of it all with care home rules not being strict enough but otherwise all good.

  • Recs for leveling up?
  • Sounds boring but just doing it more. I find it hard to learn by copying someone as I can't easily identify the tiny body changes. But trying a problem over and over and trying new things you can learn what works and what doesn't.

Also asking friends or strangers how they did something can very helpful. I find climbers are very happy to share advice when asked (but usually won't offer as that can be considered rude).

As for strength, I guess it's very different muscles. It will help when your fingers, forearms and technique are better I'm sure :)

  • What would you tell your 18 year old self?
  • Your shyness is a choice, just start saying yes to things that scare you and it will get easier.

The moment I worked that out life got a lot better for me. I figured it out not too far past 18 but I wonder what relationship I would have with my hometown if I figured it out sooner.

  • The Reddit Protest Is Finally Over. Reddit Won.
  • So many people said this whole situation wouldn't end Reddit, like the end of Reddit would be some big huge sudden bang when the apps turned off.

They couldn't seem to grasp the idea that it could be the end of the Reddit we knew with a huge injection of new users to potential replacements. Only time will tell.

  • When was the last time you were surprised by liking a piece of music?
  • Thanks for the recommendations, familiar with both thanks to housemates but haven't connected with either of them as much. Maybe it's Ren's story/backgroumd/emotion that interests me more.

But can't say I've properly sat and listened to Dr Syntax by myself. I'll give it a go.

  • When was the last time you were surprised by liking a piece of music?
  • Quite recently. My husband kept asking me to Ren as he's from the same town as me but I knew it was a bit rappy and rap is not my thing.

Turns out Ren is great and some rap is maybe alright so that surprised me.

  • Some Redditors say they're walking away after Apollo app shuts down
  • Goes to show how difficult it can be for teams to build good products when there's a million stakeholders involved vs one stakeholder (plus users). It can be done of course, but only if managed well. Which Reddit obviously didn't.

  • The Reddit app-pocalyse is here: Apollo, Sync, and BaconReader go dark | Many major third-party apps are finally shutting down.
  • Yeah it's super weird. Either they did want to kill 3rd party apps and not admit it, and thought it would go down better than it did. Might have been okay if they didn't go after the Apollo dev.

Or they really underestimated how much people would pay to use reddit/emotional investment for the 3rd party app devs. And genuinely thought some apps would do it within 1 month.

I guess the former, but like just admit it rather than bullshit people. At least then you would get some respect for honesty

  • No way Perez survives if a another constructor catches up. It's still the same people in charge that got rid of all of Max's teamates as soon as things got bad.

Luckily it looks like Max is doing enough for the both of them.
