Mozilla's massive lapse in judgement causes clash with uBlock Origin developer
  • Totally agree, I've already blocked @[email protected] because of the endless stream of rage bait and bad faith arguments. Now it is showing up here too.

  • [2023] Mozilla and Gary Vee fund cryptocurrency company Webacy
  • Calm down, I'm not attacking anyone here. Simply pointing out that literally every single post you've made on this account is bashing Mozilla. It is hard to take anyone seriously when they have such an obvious agenda on display.

I'm not going to waste my time on the content of an old news article being used as rage bait.

For what it is worth, I completely agree with your list of wants. However, if you are truly wanting those goals for Mozilla, I would have to say you are going about it in a particularly strange way.

  • How do I block all hexbear and lemmy.ml. I'm sick of being a part of the China/Russia psyops.
  • Yeah, I feel it too.

Lemmy fills about half the void left from when I quit using Reddit. Helps me keep up with things... but there is just so much negativity: outrage, propaganda, and outright gaslighting.

So much time spent blocking stuff just so I can scroll the feed without killing my mood. Power users, power tripping mod/admins, users solely here to push an agenda, and the hivemind are as prevalent as ever.

On a technical level, I'm not even sure if the protocol is right for this kind of service. Large instances have so much power. The barrier for entry for small instances grows every day. User privacy and control of your own content sucks.

Not saying it's all bad here, just saying it feels lacking. At least reddit had varied and active niche communities, where you could find better quality discussions than the default subs.

  • OP I'm not going to even pretend I like where Mozilla is heading... but literally every post you've made is anti-Mozilla/Firefox. Not even trying to hide your agenda huh?

Seriously, fuck the executives running Mozilla into the ground. However, the amount of astroturfing and manufactured outrage I've seen recently has gotten out of control.

  • NFL returns this week with the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game
  • Hyped as it is possible to be for preseason. Football is back baby.

  • Federating posts from kbin?
  • I'm in the same boat. Haven't figured it out yet either, but since they do federate properly on lemmy.world it must be a solved problem.

  • Using healthchecks.io and ntfy.sh to wake you up if your services are down
  • I just have to say, I really love ntfy.

Years ago I used an app called simplepush, even bought the premium key. Installed it half a year ago and now they've changed to a yearly subscription. Fair enough. So I thought about throwing something together in python just to replicate the functionality just for my personal use... but luckily I searched and found ntfy first.

    Really appreciate the work.

  • Sad to see Reddit go
  • Ive been on reddit since the beginning. Watched it grow and change. These things are always bittersweet but honestly I never thought it would last this long.

My internet history is litered with relics. All the way back to the phpbb web forums, irc servers, aim/aol chatrooms, and the BBSs before them.

  • What are you playing this weekend? 6/9
  • Still playing it on DS. I really would love to have it on switch along with Dawn/Aria of Sorrow and the others.

  • Lions, Jaguars are both flipping downtrodden history on its head entering promising 2023
  • As a Jags fan, the whole second half of last year going into the post season felt like a strange fever dream.

  • What are you playing this weekend? 6/9
  • Taking a little break from TOTK for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. I've been itching to play through it again. I forgot how good the music is.
