Supermarket plastic bag charge has led to 98% drop in use in England, data shows
  • Yes, that was kind of the point.

(The @ ing is because I'm replying from Mastodon, it does that by default)

  • What are your thoughts about Video Game to Boardgame adaptations?
  • @Barbarian @dpunked I believe Civilization actually started as a boardgame, so that's more a boardgame to videogame conversion.

  • Windows 95, 98, and other decrepit versions can grab online updates again
  • @chris @videodrome Still can't get it to work, even with 5.5 and adding to Trusted Sites. It installed the ActiveX component, then stopped here.

  • Lemmings for the Commodore Plus/4
  • @floppy @Twig I need to save 12½ lemmings!

  • Lemmings for the Commodore Plus/4
  • @floppy @Twig Oh, this is incredible. Playing now on a real Plus/4. #commodoreplus4 #lemmings

  • Brits to follow on Mastodon, Calckey, etc
  • @Emperor I'd like to add:

Martin Lewis @MartinLewis (hasn't posted for ages)

Helen Czerski @helenczerski (posts frequently, please follow 🙂)

  • Has anyone here tried Bookwyrm? If not, what's your favorite GR alternative?
  • @133arc585 @brand I found that when I imported I had to manually add lots of missing books and then import again. I think the import might have improved since then - adding books definitely has, as it usually finds them to import now (when I joined it was a purely manual process)

  • How to Favourite a magazine
  • @losttourist I don't think you can - just posts. That favourites view shows all posts you've favourited (upvoted). It's a good way of bookmarking until we get actual bookmarking.

  • BBC News - Orkney council to look at proposals to become territory of Norway
  • @sarahdal @floppy @frozengriever Yes, I think it was for 200 years or something - long enough for it to get forgotten about! There was a guy in Orkney spent his life trying to get them back under Norwegian rule.

  • Rambling Readers (@[email protected])
  • @Rainbright @bookstodon @Remillard Bookwyrm works fantastically as a GoodReads alternative! It just doesn't federate quite as well as it could (across different platforms), but that's no big deal. I can read, follow, etc from Mastodon no problem, TakahÄ“ misses some posts, and I've not tried from kbin yet (the instance I'm on is having federation issues).

  • Rambling Readers (@[email protected])
  • @Remillard @bookstodon @Rainbright Hashtags on #Bookwyrm don't seem to work properly, unless that has been fixed. In theory though it ought to work as you say. Default hashtags for certain Bookwyrm events might be good too. I've not posted to Bookwyrm since following my account from kbin, so not sure how it works there.

  • How many of you are using Bookwyrm (federated alternative to Goodreads)?
  • @Knoll0114 If it's only just turned up then it was very slow! I think the servers are having a nightmare under the sudden increased load, but good to know it works!

  • Welcome to Feddit.uk!
  • @tom @HumanPenguin If it helps, I managed to subscribe from kbin (fedia.io), so federation is definitely working.
