  • I kept hearing mutahar (someordinarygamers) talk about virtual machines and eventually i managed to get a laptop so i tried making one and Ubuntu was my pick (cus he recommended it for noobs), i hardly knew anything ab linux then but i figured a vm would be the perfect chance to try it :) . Later on when i first decided i wanted to try rawdogging linux it was cus my friend had an old laptop he never used so i asked if i could have it and he didnt mind. The thing was so slow the start menu (the thing u open when u press the windows button) literally took minutes to open. So i eventually checked its specs and downloaded a few distros trying them out and settled on mx linux cus it seemed to tick the most amount of boxes for me :3 (also i got around downloading linux on my main device later on, been using fedora on it.)

  • Any ruldeas on what to use this laptop for?
  • Any clues on how to get regular mp4 anime torrents? Ion wana have to use my newer laptop cus the whole point of having the old one is to avoid battery wear and tear on the new one when my electricitys out ;-;

  • Best Distro for Laptops?
  • fedora with gnome (fedora workspaces) is what i use rn :) used the xfce flavor, kde plasma one, and neither of them gave me everything i desired out of them like gnome did. gnome seems to have the leaast amount of small graphical bugs. also fedora is the shit overall, top 3 distros for sure.

  • How has ur lemmy experience been so far?
  • i doubt ill be fasting from reddit cus theres always instances where i look for smt and the answers are there (like in the search results). but ima be using lemmy from now on for casual scrolling and entertainment instead

  • How has ur lemmy experience been so far?
  • oh for sure, especially in like the way smaller instances in fediverse projects, theres instances of akkoma where it doesnt feel like a social media site (which an instances is technically is) but more like a groupchat/blog thing (in the style of internet way back in the day) where getting familiar with the others is easy as hell and almost natural, wholesome 101

  • How has ur lemmy experience been so far?
  • the first step or two are the hardest cus its so different from traditional social media, i made the mistake of making like 10+ mastodon accs on diff instances cus i didnt know how (or even if i could) follow/subscribe to other instances and have them in my feed xD

  • How has ur lemmy experience been so far?

    Im joining in on the reddit ditching thing, and was kinda worried at first that i wouldnt be able to like use it the way i did reddit as it feels like a whole new place, but after engaging with posts and people and actually being a part of lemmy rather than being lurk mode all the time i was pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to become a member of the community, theres a reasonable amount of subs (or whatever the other word for em is) that fit my interests, enough linux content and shitposting for my liking, and the overall random posts made by people equally fed up with Leddit. (also i admit i used reddit a little cus there was this post on the fedora sub showing how to fix a sound issue i been having after a recent update)
