Just finished watching Station 11 on Max. SOOOOO good!
  • Is it close to the book? I finished reading it in November 2019 and immediately started hearing about a virus in China....

  • CIA reportedly offers buyouts to entire workforce in latest Trump-era purge
  • Surely this would be an absolute intelligence clusterfuck for the US if the entire CIA staff just... left.

  • Patch this Bish!
  • Must be just an American thing? I never hear anyone say it here!

Also, could you be on of Lemmy's oldest users?!

  • Patch this Bish!
  • Nope, it's just by accident. Must be a certain demographic that seems to have fallen into the habit of saying it as I never hear people use "on" in real life.

  • Patch this Bish!
  • I think they're calling you out on saying "on accident" rather than "by accident"

  • Busses with LED advertising on the side.
  • Yup. There's a new massive LED advertising board on the approach to a busy roundabout near me. It's a huge distraction, so bright that even the sun would have to squint.

It doesn't look too bad there, but when it's dark it's a pain in the ar....eyes.

    New admin just dropped
  • Congratulations! How bad was the hazing process?

  • Americans are weird.
  • What makes them think they're American? I don't see any guns or medical bills piled up?

  • The deed is done.
  • Treasure Island Dizzy only had a single life. One of my earliest memories is of my sister losing her shit as she accidentally dropped the snorkel while she was cycling through her inventory underwater.

  • How many eggs do you eat in a week?
  • Probably about 6 to 8. Poached eggs on toast drizzled with sriracha and baked beans with a dollop of chipotle paste is my go to lunch.

  • Man eating 6-9 pounds of butter and cheese a day develops ‘cholesterol hands’ while on carnivore diet
  • Metric conversion: 6-9 pounds is about 2.7kg - 4kg

I kind of want to know what the hell his meals look like to get through that much. We probably go through about 300g of butter a week, as a family of 4.

  • rather than offering affordable housing to locals

Let's be honest, this wouldnt happen. Ideally the base would close and basically have an entirely new village built on it, flooding the local market with available properties that helps reduce the cost of housing - an abundance of supply over demand.

That said, the locals might have mixed feelings as US airmen will likely contribute to the local economy in some way.

    New mods, slight rule change!

    Hello casualuk'ers!

It seems like the sole mod of this community has been busy with life for some time and the admins have asked if anyone would like to volunteer to help out, so myself and @[email protected] have offered a hand.

We believe the core vibe of the community should be fun, relaxed, safe, and obviously, casual! Therefore we have made a minor ammendment to the rules, adding a "No Politics" rule. There's a lot of political communities across the fediverse and so we feel it would be great for people to have a space where the focus isn't politics, but just to have a bit of fun.

If you've got some great UK based political content or memes to share, then the following communities might be more suitable:

    Thanks for reading!
